Agreed. I never played the game but I did experience the HD cutscenes, to which afterwards-some time down the line-I decided to watch a let’s play of the game and was baffled by how many interactions between the members was cut out from the HD edition. Even little things like the text bubble interaction added so much to each of the organization members.

hey ! im the other person on this project (under the name sandwichwater) , ive not done as much as vitor on this project (huge thanks to him for letting me help) but i _have_ been working on hd textures for both 2d and 3d objects in the game both importing from kh1 , 2 , recom , as well as remaking new ones from scratch , its currently very unstable but once we get it down the game will look better than ever in a true remastered fashion :D

@@ZODDism It was lacking in gameplay because it was on a very limited system. The story was the only one fully written by Nomura. It was much more oriented in story instead of gameplay and was made to give an explanation of the events after Chain of Memories but before KH2.

Tell me why I commented this on the Facebook page, and someone replied to me basically going "but it didn't have multiplayer. How would they add it? If you want multiplayer, go play KH UX" Like, wtf reality did I wake up in where new games can't have whatever TF they want added to them? Bro completely forgot No Man's Sky & Minecraft exist, lol. But seriously, SE really missed out not remastering this game properly. But it would really benefit from a proper remake/upgrade with multiplayer added in to that game mode where you can play as the different Organization memebers.

I remember seeing Vitor post about this on the KH subreddit about a month ago; he did say they're also working on getting the cutscenes from the HD movie in to replace the in-game cutscenes, so there's still more updates to come!

I found Vitor's Melon Mix overhaul of Melon DS last month and finally played DAYS again since the first time I played it over 15 years ago... SO thankful to team Vitor for updating Melon DS so that DAYS can be played like normal modern KH HD collection game controls now on only 1 single screen most of the time! I thought that this was exactly the huge news a channel like yours would make a vid about and you just did!

As someone who loves the Days story and has beaten the game, but hates the gameplay, this is already a massive improvement, and may have to be the way I play it going forward. Fantastic shoutout! Also, yes, Re:coded is SO MUCH BETTER to play than Days!

Fr. I feel like they managed to refine the damage output when they carried over the command system to the game from BBS. I have a strong hate to the Panel System, i just hate it so much.

@@rogue1248 See, I like the panel system… to a degree. It’s an interesting idea, but it needs a lot of refinement. The biggest problem I have is that you have to equip your spells to it, and that they basically act as consumables instead of giving you a magic meter. There’s virtually no difference between using Cure and using a potion, and that’s just so dumb… Also, the general movement feels like Roxas is running through water, and it just doesn’t feel great to control IMO. Re:coded feels so much smoother and runs much faster as a whole. One great addition is that you have the option for Sora to automatically jump when he runs off the edge of a platform, just like Link in Ocarina of Time. And yeah, the command deck is a much better alternative to the panels!

Even just having controls remappable to controller inputs would go a long way toward making me more willing to revisit Days. Short of an actual remake, this is pretty much everything I ever wanted. The glow-up a game like this deserves

I really need to get to one of these people with the secret boss encounter scripts I have. Imagine each Anti-Org member in a special glitched version of a story mission, only they stop following the normal script and have some kind of outburst related to their backstories. Marluxia rants about how he needs Roxas to unlock his lost memories so he can save someone he’s forgotten. Luxord is suddenly fed up with “the game” and thinks he can use the Keyblade to “wake up” and stop playing. Xigbar rants at Ventus about how he manages to skip all the trauma and pain and age and just reset his heart and body every time he follows him to a new era. “You think you have drama at your little ‘ice cream socials’? As if.” Saïx can have a little jealous tiff. Xaldin can spell out his envious obsession with the Beast. Just… all the things about everyone’s characters that never got time to BREATHE.

This is pretty neat. Since I modded my new 3ds I've started playing this game for the first time and what's really cool is that you can patch some cheats that let you use the analog stick with true 360 movement and the cstick for the camera instead of the touch screen. So essentialy, I'm playing with actual DS hardware but with better controls.

This is definitely my new favorite way to play it, before this I was using my Wii U to play on a big screen and occasionally glancing down at the tablet when needed. But this feels miles better to play!

Hope this means some more people will get to experience this game in full. It's one thing to watch the cutscenes and get the idea of what happened - it's another thing entirely to go through every heart-wrenching part of the story.

I have literally thought about doing this myself. The logistics, the work arounds, everything. Though admittedly I wasn't going to make it a public program. I was more concerned with remapping tools and pip screens to emulate this kind of effect. Still, glad someone else beat me to it!

This rom hack paired with a steam deck or other portable handheld console purely immaculate. Just in time for the steam version of the games as well. this game really is a must play kingdom hearts title in my opinion. it's very sad it never got the hd remix treatment like the others. Maybe one day we'll see it in UR4 or 5.

Wanted to play on steamdeck and set it to fullscreen without adding any keybindings or hotkeys and now i am stuck in fullscreen. Even deleting the folder and making a new one doesnt work. My steamdeck says there was no "config" file created. I dont know what to do :(

Download the thing Extract to empty folder Create a rom folder in this folder Rename nds file to game.nds and put it in rom folder Profit

Does MelonDS support texture packs? Since most of KH Days reuses areas and assets from KH2, I wonder if it'd be possible to use some of those old textures to give it more polish.

the project coders are planning to import the KH2 textures for their version 1.0 eventually. The playable version right now is only version 0.2 still ;D

Thank GOD. I've been meaning to play this forever but was never able to get it on DS. I refused to emulate it because I just have no fun emulating DS games with losing the touch screen and I've stopped progressing through the KH series because I was waiting to play this game. This project was basically made for me.

Love to see this! Hopefully we can get this for Re:Coded too. I always loved Days and Re:Coded, and I feel that people’s opinions on these games would’ve changed had they been officially remastered. Also, seeing the new bloods who only experienced these games through the HD cutscenes actually being able to play the game and see what they think of it would’ve been interesting.

Been playing this game since emulators came to iOS. Been having a blast. Enhanced graphics are nice, but also playing through story missions using cheats to select any characters I want. I beat this game back when I had it on DS, and it’s been a refreshing way to replay this game.

When emulating DS and 3DS games, I usually just stick with the intended 2 screen-format. Either in the normal configuration or with the bottom screen to the right. I don't see how that is particularly awkward, that is literally just how you play these games normally. And unless you need to use touch for something, it may as well be the same.(It's even the standard way to play on the official DS VC on the WiiU)

Oh hell yeah this looks like a fantastic way to play one of my favorite KH games! Though, I am curious, how does it handle moments where there’s more than just the map on the bottom screen? Some of the most memorable moments from days were those moments where it just suddenly started to show Sora doing the same thing on the bottom screen, so I’m curious if that’s just cut out altogether with no bottom screen?

I'm at Day 100 on the Melon Mix custom emulator for 358Days, and it will show BOTH screens for CUTSCENES when Sora appears on the 2nd screen. idk if it's advanced enough to detect about changing to both screens during normal gameplay tho since it seems quite tricky to detect and "recode" the emulator for this.. but at least they've determined which cutscenes should include the 2nd screen along with the main wide screen

I use Xbox 1 controller why are the controllers so weird my left joy stick makes me jump when moving forward swings when I turn right I tried remapping with no change please help

Yes, there is. But currently, only local multiplayer has been tested

Currently, nothing. The game plays just like it would on regular melonDS. But the project has been adapted to also give Re:coded its own modifications later on, but they are not the focus right now

Great vid, and now it has me looking into dumping my own copy of Days to play this updated version, but did I miss something? Just started getting back into KH vids after the Steam announcement, and you're the second KZfaqr I've heard call it "Three-Five-Eight Over Two Days" in the last week, when I thought the accepted name was "Three-Five-Eight Days Over Two." I could have sworn that's how we all used to pronounce it.

Maybe those two specific people saw how its printed on the box and came to their conclusions following that, maybe its a familiarity thing? For the record, the latter is how it was said in a commercial so that is offically what the title is. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q69nf9yBs9nVhZs.html
