He realizes he's going to lose them. and he reaches out to Aqua, he's reaching out to hope, and seeking them. But he knows, even though with hope right there, around him, it's going to end and he is helpless, and as you said, powerless too - while still reaching out to hope.. I'm sorry, I don't really know how to explain, but that should be the closest. Something so simple, but yet it sounds as if it's complicating..

100% agreed. However, this scene is, to me, much better executed than Birth By Sleep's actual cutscene. Let me get this out of my chest: when I reached that cutscene in BBS after so many awkward cutscenes, dialogue and whatnot in the other Disney worlds, I really had no hopes of seeing it in the same light. While the fact that they rendered the majority of the cutscene in PSP graphics was awesome (making it a great technological benchmark!), it lost all that shroud of mystery and epicness from this KH2FM cutscene, for the sole reason of the poor writing that surrounds this magnificence. And it's not just the mystery that helped, it's that it's merely a stand-alone animation that does not fit *anywhere* in BBS. It looks awesome, intense atmosphere, flashy and feels like it contains great deals of depth… but, in the final product, it just didn't make any sense. The story from this cutscene is completely different to what we got later (three armored warriors cross paths to lift three Keyblades in a seemingly Keyblade Graveyard to fight a looming evil VS. Aqua, Ventus and Terra, unarmored, gathered for absolutely no reason other than because the plot asked them to). In my opinion, Nomura should've left this cutscene hanging in the air unless he'd get actual writers hired for the job. It's best to leave things a mystery than giving them an awful context.

But then Square Enix step up their game again and set the bar up high for CGI animations with Kingsglaive

I completely understand what you are saying and I can add that the Unreal engine is making everything looks beautiful in 0.2 and KH3 but still can't be compared to this secret ending, the characters simply look beautiful and matches their counterpart in the game engine (Im talking about YOU Terra! YAH YOU!) and the environment looks almost realistic enough (I know its not that clear from this video)

I can’t remember where I heard this, but initially it actually was supposed to be set in the far future. Dunno why it got changed to a prequel instead, but that’s why you don’t see them pick up Sora, Mickey and Riku’s Keyblades in the actual game, a bit of a goof on Nomura’s part. However, that doesn’t explain why Mickey is at the end of the trailer.

Yeah, and to top it all off Nomura tried to pull the Alas Poor Villain card on Ansem, Xemnas, and Master Xehanort which really doesn't work because of how unrepentantly evil they were in their previous appearances. that was the plan. he froze him making aqua take care and protect him and let terra fight them alone. That also allowed braig to stall aqua since he said he wanted ventus but also led to vanitas knocking her out

Too many TV shows only write the script for the first season or even just the first episode, and if they get a second season, they have absolutely no idea what to do next and they just drag the show on for way longer than it needs to be.

MikeslyMontague "Too many TV shows only write the script for the first season"; To be fair, when you're doing season one you never really know if you're gonna get a season two, so it's actually wise to write season one as a complete-ish story so that if you _can't_ get a season two then at least the story is relatively resolved. +PolarBearMusician Yea when I replayed the entire series recently I noticed multiple moments that made me say "Is that hinting about this??" For example at the end of KH1 when Xehanort's heartless says "Take a look at this tiny place. To the heart seeking freedom this island is a prison surrounded by water. And so this boy sought to escape from his prison. He sought a way to cross over into other worlds. And he opened his heart to darkness." That just made me say while he's talking about Riku could he be referring to when Xehanort was young too??

+Alfredo Larios yeah. Supposedly, that's where the final fight between them all took place. When you look arround in Birth by Sleep you see tons of traces of battles like damaged mountains and the kind.

you know regardless of if square had made 3 after birth by sleep, chain of memories still would've happened. cause ya know the whole sora donald and goofy being asleep for a year and everyone forgetting and remembering them was kinda a major plot point they never addressed much in 2.

How could it possibly be about the Keyblade War when there are rusty and worn down Keyblades all around them? That pretty much says that the war already happened. The secret movies are usually better than the actual games. I think it's partially because the secret movies have little to no context provided, and your imagination will always come up with something that feels cooler to you than whatever actually ends up happening. For example I love KH2 but I have to admit that the KH1 secret movie is just cooler if you watch it pretending you don't know what any of it ended up meaning. That's doubly true for this trailer, even if 3 ended up being on par with 1 and 2 this secret movie is one of the best trailers of all time, especially if you watched it all those years ago before we knew anything about BBS. If we're just talking about KH stuff it may never be topped.

I gotta agree with you. You’d think that after watching this the final battle with Xehanort in KH3 would be ten fold. What happened to summoning giant rocks right out of the ground? Or his ability to freeze? The fight was terribly easy and the game was sadly lacking in my opinion. I’m hoping that the new DLC will add some things, touch up, and explain further what the hell we should’ve had in the vanilla version of the game.
