Kingdom Hearts Timeline playlist: • Playlist
KINGDOM HEARTS TIMELINE is an incredibly massive project I've been wanting to do forever. The only thing that was stopping me from actually working on it was the still-incomplete plot of the χ[chi] portion of the whole saga, which is also the most confusing one. However, I did want to deliver this before the release of KINGDOM HEARTS 3, so we could have the perfect road to the final chapter of the Xehanort saga at our disposal and relive, together, all of the chapters in a definitive and never-seen-before way.
KINGDOM HEARTS TIMELINE is, in fact, different by any other playthroughs or projects around because it is composed of all the Kingdom Hearts titles released so far placed in chronological order. Beware - the events are actually settled chronologically. Which means that every single cutscene and/or gameplay part will follow the exact order of the events of the saga. For instance, the birth of Vanitas will be shown before the Mark of Mastery exam, and so on.
Every episode will start with a screen showing a complete timeline I created purposely for this project.
KINGDOM HEARTS TIMELINE doesn't want to be a simple movie made of cutscenes. If It were to be like that, there wouldn't be anything special about it. This project actually started as a playthrough, giving, of course, priority to story content.
Sitting and watching a 25 minutes video made of cutscenes we've been watching for a decade is just as boring as anything else. Gameplay bits have been thoughtfully placed to make sure you won't fall asleep when watching, giving their contribute for a more immersive experience. They are necessary for keeping people interested and entertained in a never-seen-before way to re-live the saga, watching multiple characters fighting at the same time, as well as showcasing the worlds and the variety of enemies we'll encounter through all the titles.
Besides, I'm not adding more than 1 minute or so of random gameplay in a total of 25 minutes for each episode-except for bosses lasting 2 minutes or so. Boss battles are still what people look forward to the most in a Kingdom Hearts playthrough, and this project won't be exception.
Finding the right balance is not easy and not always possible -due to countless technical restrictions related to music, episode length and such- just as it's not easy having everyone thinking alike. Of course, I can't make everyone happy, but I did want to point this out.
Lastly, I want you guys to know that the amount of effort being put for this is massive. There are countless hours of work and dedication I've spent (and still spending) for this, for something we all love and care about. My channel is, after all, always been made of this - content that will grant you one of the best levels of knowledge and enjoyment of the Kingdom Hearts saga - and, as much as it's stressful having to translate every Japanese Union χ [Cross] episode, I still do that to deliver the latest story updates of the saga for you.
My main goal is working as much professionally as I can and add details where normally people wouldn't add. Not liking a content is totally fine, whereas insulting and posting offensive comment is not. There is nothing worse than spending your own time to show dedication for something we all love and see offensive reactions coming back at you. For this whole project to be completed, suggestions and questions coming from fans are well accepted and needed. Just want to make sure you haven't forgotten about the scene befor Riku's last Disney World where he pulls out the World Card and wonders if getting through this means he will overcome the darkness. Are you saving it for a future episode?

Uh Everglow according to Axel, Lexaeus died after Larxene not before, so shouldn’t the fight happened in the next episode or two

When talking to Zexion, Axel just lists the defeated members, not strictly implying that Larxene was defeated before Lexaeus, nor pointing it out. Again, details like this have no impact on storytelling whatsoever. As I've been saying since starting this portion of the Timeline, Sora's and Riku's progress through the floors of Castle Oblivion can't be timed without some small incongruences. Much like Birth by Sleep, there are some times where characters spend too much time for a single world and other times where it takes them a few minutes. What I'm doing here is making the flow of event seem coherent with what the characters have been doing, making sure that neither Sora or Riku would be left hanging on a single floor for too much time, and that each episode would show a part of their stories. Riku is now currently lost in darkness and will wake up later, which means I have a good reason to focus on Sora's side now.

I love how in nice subtle ways with the game play you have given Donald and Goofy more development or at least a slightly better importance in there role. The one thing about kh series i find sad is the lack of development or interactions Donald and Goofy have on the major plot characters/villains even tho they are standing right there for most of it.

I really feel sorry for Lexaeus' death... even more after reading his secret report, talking about how he can only trust zexion... then saying "i'm sorry zexion"... he lost because of ansem... it was an unfair fight for him...

THAT VEXEN FIGHT HOLY GOD, the way you edited it so Sora rushed headlong into battle... and then how you played him SO AGGRESSIVELY. The characterization you work into the gameplay is so incredible, and I love that the sleights are giving you a chance to show that off. Things are gettin' REAL GOOD. I can't wait till the next episode.

- Anyone notice that Marluxia and Larxene have never directly talked to each other? Sure, they speak in the same room, but only to Axel or Namine in the middle and they're the two main villains in Sora's story. Maybe they'll chat with each other in KHIII. - Another thing, Lexaeus reminds me of Terra a little. Both have earth and dark-themed powers, both carry the heaviest weapons among their groups, both have short brown hair and blue eyes, and both have a strong companionship with at least one person in their groups. I like the friendship with him and Zexion; the brawny guy and the brainy guy, but instead of the cliched dumb muscle-head and the spineless nerd, the former is intelligent enough to compose a counter-plan against Marluxia and the latter isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. More importantly, both take part in shaping Riku up to what he is now, except that Terra was more heroic and gallant while Lexaeus was more villainous and intimidating.

I have always wondered what would have happened if Sora had prevented Vexen from being killed by Axel. Everyone says Vexen is one of the most evil members, but in the end he was the only one in Castle Oblivion who told Sora the truth. And if Sora had listened to him it would have been a huge help. How ironic. I remember being so angry at Axel the first time I played CoM, because I had the feeling that for the first time since the beginning of the game I was receiving useful information about what was happening XD

I think telling Sora the truth had been his goal since when he gave him the Twilight Town card. Vexen's main goal in CoM is preventing Marluxia's plan, not manipulating Sora. In a cutscene in Reverse/Rebirth he even says that Sora is not that interesting to him.

I think you're spot on Lisaralin L. Vexen is one of the most loyal members of the Organization, and he was trying to disrupt Marluxia's plans. Too bad Axel had to off him in order to convince Larxene & Marluxia.

LOVE the transition before Vexen's fight, straight into 13th Struggle and into the battle! Also, a lot of people say Vexen is weak, but I find his Ice Blade move SO badass :)

I've always felt bad for Lexaeus. Out of all the Organization members, he has perhaps the weakest character development. It doesn't help that he had a lot of potential, and that his motives made sense up until he picked a fight with Riku.

Anyone else get a SERIOUS seance of for-shadowing from Vexen's last words? Not only did he say that Sora's not a true keyblade master, but he also warns Sora that he is doomed to "sink into the darkness" both of witch are HUGE plot points in DDD. I feel like that's not a coincidence......... also great work with that music at 10:12 @Everglow

Brandon Cobb Good point. I like how Even/Vexen is the master of foreshadowing in the series. In BBS he practically tells you that Ven's heart was stripped clean of the darkness. Also thanks to him Twilight Town and the first hint at Roxas' existence were first introduced in the series. He's also the first one to speak the word "Nobody" and to give a vague (but very poetic in my opinion) definition of it ("one who walks in the twilight").

And people say that Sora is just an annoyingly happy-go-lucky character? COM proves otherwise. Sora has been used, his memories became lies, he was forced to fight 'his best friend' we know its a replica but he didn't at the time and he lost all his memories even those of Kairi. If Sora ever remembers those memories...oh boy RAGE!!!! Marluxia and the others better go hide somewhere. What if Riku tells him in KH3?

Now that I think about it, was this game providing hints as to why Sora was so easy to manipulate in DDD? He's so oblivious to the manipulation in both cases, and him following his own instincts, in the case of this game and DDD, ended up becoming huge weaknesses that would have led to his downfall had things been a little different.

Sora isnt the brightest minds and he has too much light in him. I think its great that sora isnt that smart because it prevent his character from being flawless and it makes for an interesting protagonist. A controversial opinion, i know

Sora is largely a one dimensional character. He's a happy go lucky guy whose sole goal in life is to be with his friends. Exploiting this makes sense and would make him easy to manipulate.

Yeah, I always hated how Sora is dashing against Vexen ready to hit him, then the actual fight begins and you see Sora standing still in his battle stance. Kind of always ruined that.

Love how marluxia/lauriam keeps talking about how "bad" the situation would be if there's a traitor (from the prev ep) and now he says "we must eliminate the traitor". Makes me think he's speaking from a past experience

Since this is the last of Vexen for now, I’m gonna say it: to me, he was really cool. His expressions, voice and posture all show an eccentric crazed thinker, and even though he is not a fighter, he didn’t take shit from anybody. His, Lexaeus’ and Zexion’s goals are still unclear, as to what they were actually going for, but Vexen has had an incredible impact on the overall story, with Repliku and No. I being his creations. And Lexaeus was cool too.

jakobos93 Totally agree. One of the best written and developed members, and his actions have a great impact in the series as a whole. I'm so sad he will probably be one of the few members, if not the only one, that we won't see in KH3. It is so unfair given his role so far. He deserves a proper closure.

jakobos93 the thing is, his Japanese VA passed away in 2010. I think that's the reason he was unconscious in DDD. But yes, storywise it makes sense that he's coming back. I mean, everyone is coming back, even Luxord.

For someone who plays with fire, Axel really keeps his cool well, always playing a part yet keeping his priorities straight. He really is trying to figure out for himself what is right and wrong and doing what he can just to be with Roxas as long as he can.

Axel was the wild card of the O13 & i feel like he’ll be a wild card in KH3 🃏. The way he killed vexen & what he said was poetry! 14:53 & yes *EVERGLOW* that stardust blitz was *ART* 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 . Getting fancy on us. Cant wait to perform combos on KH3. Im retiring my usual X button spam & basic magic fighting style.

Axel let namine go at the best time to foil marluxia's plans. And Vexen creating the replica to motivate sora to continue was the catalyst for marluxia's fall. Gotta give them both credit. Also, lex has a HUGE darkness elemental weakness, but takes half damage from physical attacks. If riku doesn't enter dark mode, lex can eat through all of riku's cards.

Axel's scene with Marley and Larxene after killing Vexen is SO good. Its the first time you see his façade crack. He's not boastful, or arrogant. He's subdued and quiet and Larxene's line about him having the "strength" to essentially kill someone he's known for a decade gets to him. Its little details like this that really make me question people who say that Roxas and Xion were the main/only reason Axel moved away from Saix. They've been playing this political game for a while now, and even when Saix gives Axel the order to "dispose of the traitors" he's already salty and questioning if it came from Xemnas or if its really about Saix furthering his agenda. And then his (upcoming I presume) diary entry at the end of it all, questioning if it was really worth it and if this was Saix's plan all along... Questioning if Saix wanted him dead too in Days. To come home and find Roxas absolutely ecstatic and relieved to see him... Can you blame him for dumping his old "friend"? He's finally found something better to live for, after both him and Saix got both so lost from their original goal as kids. Really, this isnt about Roxas or Xion and it never was. It was about Axel and who he really is. He finally found his moral line in this episode, and he continually crosses it throughout the rest of Chain of Memories. I never understood when people claim that Axel's character was "ruined" after CoM/KH2 because he decided to be a good guy, the story clearly shows this persona he's putting up in CoM is all thanks to the scheming he's been at with Saix, a scheming we see him get sick of. Thats not to say he's always been a saint... Days and KH2 (and CoM too tbh!) show he can be a pretty selfish guy who's not above kidnapping and more to get what he wants. But it makes sense-- he wouldnt be the person he is in CoM if he didnt willingly join this game. Just because he doesnt wanna play Saix's politics anymore doesnt mean his affection for Roxas and Xion isnt selfish at the end of Days. Its a really consistent and interesting character flaw of his, and its nice to see him working his butt off in DDD to turn the connotation of "I'll always be there to bring you back" into a good one, which eventually leads him to be the guy who really wants to be better (and who still struggles with his guilt) that we see in KH3.

I wonder if the memory of Ventus is what gave Namine to use the idea of a meteor shower her the "special memory" she shares with Sora/Repliku. Ven always was obsessed with shooting stars.

I love how the finishing ending for both when Riku and Sora were fighting a Nobody foreshadowed the cutscenes for Vexen getting burned and Lexus getting somewhat sliced in half I guess. Now that two members were just now killed off, 11 remain.

I still think it's interesting how Lexaeus was the only Org member (and one of the only characters in general) who was killed personally by Ansem SoD. I don't know if it's significant at all, but I do hope Aeleus returns in KH3, I think he is criminally underdeveloped and has potential.

I find it rather sad how Lexaeus met his end. I almost feel like he was actually trying to help Riku, who eventually did learn what he was trying to tell him about accepting the darkness without yielding to it. But words are not Lexaeus' strong suit, so he tried to convince him through fighting and it backfired on him.

Awesome finisher for the fight against Vexen! It was at that point in my first playthrough of CoM that I realized that perhaps I should use sleighs after all 😅

To this day, I wished Sora's reaction to Vexen's death was more...emotional. Personally liked the manga's version.

SunnieD_ Same. Moreover, Vexen was telling Sora the truth about Marluxia's plan. Sora could have tried to save him at least to get an answer.

Uh, hello? As far as Sora knows, Vexen is the one who sent Riku off the deep end. I don't think he would have that much sympathy for Vexen dying. He was probably more shocked at the manner Axel killed him.

I think the original GBA version of Vexens death was more darker. In that version Vexen pleaded with Axel a little more seriously before Axel assassinates him across the back with his chakrams mercilessly. This version however is just too goofy.

dw4467 during the dialogue with Vexen. He says that he's a being who "belongs to neither the light nor the dark, but walks the twilight between".and then he says that the best definition for it is "Nobody".

ShadowBrony I wonder why they didn't bring it up in DDD. Sadly, Ienzo and Aeleus were very plain and badly written in that game. They are even less emotional than when they were Nobodies.

I get what you're saying. I just realised that too. but in the kingdom hearts II opening if you remember, Sora is fighting Marluxia and Riku is fighting Ansem, and both are happening at the same time. I don't know if it's true for sure or not but way Everglow is doing it makes sense.

I remember on my most recent playthrough my whole deck consisted of Lethal Frames. I think I had about nine of them. The only thing that gave me trouble was Marluxia's first second form, where he's in that giant machine thing. With Lethal Frame, I destroyed every heartless and boss with ease. I think for my next playthrough I need to split them up. I need to create an ideal sleight that will destroy mobs, and then use Lethal Frame for most bosses and maybe even Omnislash for Marluxia. Any recommendations for powerful sleights that are going to utterly destroy mobs aside from Trinity Limit? Much appreciated if anyone can let me know.

Awesome finisher there. Man, the pacing for Riku is going to be pretty bizarre from this point on. I mean he has nothing to do until Sora finally beats Marluxia a couple of videos from now. Each person has their own way of interpreting events, and you already explained your idea of how Castle Oblivion's "time distortion" works within the context of this video. I guess I personally would have just chose to pace it so that Riku would be fighting Lexaeus around the time that Sora fights Axel again. I mean, Zexion senses Lexaeus' death right around the time Axel fakes his own death in front of Sora, so wouldn't it make more sense to have the two events happen much closer together? That way you aren't just focusing on Sora for 2-3 episodes in a row while Zexion takes forever to realize that Lexaeus has been dead for hours. It's your project so you should do it however you want to do it, but in my opinion I feel like this might be the rare moment where instead of adding a scene in it might be better to edit the Lexaeus fight scene out and place it later into the story. Again, just my opinion.

Yeah I totally understand what you mean about the Zexion sensing Lexaeus' disappearance thing, but I had to take into account multiple things related to storytelling. Fragmenting some of Riku's floors making sure that he could complete a single floor way slower than Sora would make Riku's side story seem way too disjointed from a storytelling point of view-especially if take into account that, unlike Sora, he doesn't even have any proper personal stories inside the Disney worlds, making his side story look even more dull. On the other hand, syncing his floors with Sora makes his progress through Castle Oblivion seem more natural and spontaneous, giving me also the chance to let them visit the same worlds and sync their fights together for better parallelism feelings. We have infinite issues when it comes to come to a perfect chronology, but I have also face the issues of laying out a proper storytelling version of the games in the form of videos. No matter how I do, there will always be some inconsistencies due to both the nature and the contradictions of the game itself, but I'm fine with that as long as nothing I'm depicting in these videos contradicts anything essential to the understanding of the plot. Besides, some imagination wouldn't ruin in some cases, like, we didn't know what Zexion has been doing there the whole time. Who knows, he may have been so focused on trying to understand Marluxia's intentions that he didn't have Lexaeus on his sights for that specific moment, hence only realizing later!

I believe that the character he played in the KHUX timeline videos was based off of the design of the character in the film, not the other way around.

I'm afraid not. AFAIK Back Cover was prerendered, which means the character models are unchangeable, where as DBX renders it's cutscenes in real time, so it's really easy to swap the model out.

The ads that play on these videos are such inappropriate, tasteless, obviously garbage games made with such little effort it’s mind blowing. “Catch the basterd,” cheap inappropriate word games about jailbreaks and cheaters, and national emoji wars. It’s a shame to these great content creators that this trash is attached to the beginning of their content, and i would not want my kids coming to see these videos and getting drawn into these inappropriate ads that make google a buck, then they throw you 2 cents for your hard work

can you please explain the time travel shenanigans in dream drop distance? That is literally the only part of the series' story i do not understand or enjoy. Also since terranorts heartless and nobody have been destroyed doesnt that mean that terra should also be just as alive as xehanort? EDIT:by explain the time shit I mean why xehanort time travelled and what were the motives behind time travelling and how is he "norting" people if they werent norted when they died in chain of memories. also if someone dies while they are time travelling ehat happens, also the way i understand it is that to time travel you have to leave your body behind, if thats the case then how does a heart talk and move on its own physically?

Wolf Quartz Naminé is a very special case. Because Kairi was a Princess of Heart, she could not fall into darkness. Still, Sora releasing her heart and becoming a Heartless was enough for her to be born from Sora's body and soul. Of course, since Sora still has his body and heart now, Naminé ended up having a very fragile body, personality, and no memories of her life as Somebody. What exactly her body is made of, I can't really say, but that's why she's such a special case.

Riku was possessed by the Heartless known as Ansem during KH1, and is still haunted by him. It appears that that Heartless (Xehanort's Heartless) is somehow connected to the person Lexaeus calls "Superior".
