Some notes to read related to most of your curiosity and concerns about the 358/2 Days portion of the Timeline. Please read before expressing your concerns! Please, bear in mind - THIS IS NOT A Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days remake! It will never, ever be, nor it is in our interest working on it. What we have been doing is just focusing on SIMULATING some of the original missions using KH2FM codes, adding in dialogues and cutscenes from both the original Nintendo DS and the HD 1.5 movie versions. You can’t just download it and play it and do these “missions” like in these videos. It’s not like you can download an actual game, boot it and see yourself playing as Xion and encountering random Heartless in every world like shown here. The Commands Menu on the bottom left corner is actually a picture, which is faithfully and constantly manually edited through video editing when attacking/using magic/using items/healing party members. In fact, I play with an invisible menu. The Information bar appearing at the top of the screen is just a picture as well. The Heartless spawnings have been handled each time exclusively for recording purposes, it’s not like they would appear on regular basis as shown in these videos. In other words, this is not a playable game, nor will it have any sort of remade cutscenes, rather a temporary “simulation” of some of 358/2 Days missions. Our goal is creating an exclusive, new perspective of 358/2 Days gameplay, mixing it with the original cutscenes and finally create the definitive experience of Roxas’s story, a character who deserves all of our tireless efforts and dedication. Dialogues within the Disney worlds are extremely important to the understanding of Roxas, Xion and Axel's development. Showcasing actual gameplay in Days helps delivering the best feature of the original Nintendo DS version, which is the concept of routine. The Organization's mission routine is all about Roxas's life and, as redundant as they might be, it's actually the most explicit way to picture the life within Organization XIII. And of course, gameplay is shown because we do want to let Roxas and his allies have their own moments of glory in HD, as well! Nonetheless, the best way to let players feel empathy with a video game character and actually CARE about them is playing AS THEM/playing ALONGSIDE THEM. Which is why I do think that showing Roxas and Xion fighting together, especially when she can't use the Keyblade and Roxas helps her, is a key element to the plot that must not be underestimated.

This point in the game is what makes it my favorite. I think 358/2 is really the hitch that ties everything and everyone together, past, present, and future.

My... my heart hurts. I've watched the Castle Oblivion sequence four times now, and am just overcome every time. The editing is stellar, really a culmination of all the flashback effects you've been sprinkling in throughout the Timeline and a real testament to the power behind bringing these parallels to the surface (especially the Xehanort => Xemnas => Terra beats). And then your work there totally highlights another layer behind Axel's attack on Xion. Part of Roxas is remembering what it was like for Ventus to see those fractures between Aqua and Terra.

The music you put in the scenes make them so much more climatic and cooler. Love all the flashbacks too!!!!!!

"58 days" to go until our hearts are ripped out and stomped on... again.

A really cool and awesome sequence with Roxas at Castle Oblivion with the Ventus flashbacks, along with "The Key." My only very minor, teensy-weensy nitpick is that there were no Sora flashbacks either since the reason Roxas fainted was because both Sora and Ventus were there. (To avoid any potential replies, yes, the Nomura Interviews "20 Mysteries of the Series confirms this; Sora was still at Castle Oblivion by Day 297.) However, I can understand why you made the decision not to include anything Sora-related. You have made some changes to this timeline to help give a better flow to the timeline in terms of story, like changing the placements of some of the first few days of 358/2 Days. It is honestly a bit weird that Namine and DiZ have moved to Twilight Town, yet not move Sora yet by this point. Either way, a really amazing edit once again and I can't wait for what else you have in store for the finale of 358/2 Days.

Now here I am almost 10 years later rewatching this battle and still watching Pacey's videos. Where did the time go? Those were good times. The only thing that really bugs me is how Roxas gets mad at Axel for using force against Xion as if she didn't have a key blade key-end in Roxas's face.

i'm getting to watch this series for the first time and GOD that editing at the beginning with Roxas remembering Ventus' memories. it was fucking spot on, the BBS music, the way his body movements coincided with the memories you brought up (dropping to his knees and grabbing at his face). i've had so many friends tell me that had nothing to do with Ventus and it was all just Sora, but god im so enamored by the fact that someone else knew it was Ven, too

Alright, so I get that the Replica program was most likely a way for Xemnas (Terra) to try and return Ven's heart and the Xehanort side of him wanted Kingdom Hearts in order to make 13 of himself. The only thing I can't quite grasp is Saix(Isa). Is he a double agent? Or was a double agent? Working with Axle to find out the Organizations plans seems to be his original goal but it seems that somewhere along the way he lost sight of himself and became a Nort. I am just wondering how and why? Why devote yourself to finding out Xemnas' true plans, only to join him and lose yourself in the process. I mean, I get that he is a heartless dick but at times it seems like that may have been somewhat of an act. I just feel like I am missing a piece of the puzzle.

You know, Xemnas's plan is pretty messed up when you think about it. His plan was to have Xion absorb Sora's memories, so he would stay asleep forever. That means, Sora would eventually die, as him sleeping forever means he would be unable to eat and drink. Shows how fucked up Xemnas can be. Overall, great video! I loved the part where you showed Roxas getting Ven's memories of birth by sleep. I'd always figured that what was happening to Roxas. We're also reaching the end of days, meaning there going to be a lot of feels by the end of this story. Curious how you guys will handle it.

Re-watching this, not sure if you did this on purpose, but I love that, while you summed up a lot of 358 boss fights in like 15 seconds, this one was closer to a minute just to remind everyone playing this game how long that fight is X_X

Great job with the video. I like how you handled the Castle Oblivion scene with Roxas. Personally, I would think some of Sora's memories would come along with Ventus's memories since the "memory rush" that Roxas had ended with Riku, but that's just a personal opinion. Overall the video with that scene, plus clever uses of edited music in certain scenes, was great.

I wonder if everglow is planing on doing the battle at the mansion like they did with Riku and xion 😱

Saix, like Master Xehanort and Xigbar are one of those "nonredeemable" characters in the KH series. They are the ones I just want to bite the bullet and never come back.

Wow, well um, I take back what I said about seeing it done by New Years, at this rate we’re likely to see it finished within 2-3 weeks (maybe even sooner, lol)! XD I guess that since the story itself has become much more substantial you’ve been able to shift more focus towards storytelling as opposed to gameplay, which at this point in the story makes a whole lot more sense. I will admit though, I’m starting to miss the mods. I mean I can tell that the fact that you’re trying to push us along to the climax a little quicker means that you’ve already got some sick things in store for the climactic parts of the story. I’m thinking Orcus, Castle escape/Saix, Xion vs Axel, Roxas vs Xion forms, and of course Dual Wield Roxas vs Neoshadows and Riku, though at the end of the day you may add or take away more/leave them as they are. Either way I’m sure that the wait is worth it. Whenever the next video drops, be it in another day or a whole week, I can’t wait to see what creative decisions you have made for what is probably the linchpin of the whole Days story. Even without the mods, seeing your creative editing skills alone are just so inspiring. Can’t wait to see the next few videos! X3

only a few months guys...i am so hyped

I know it sounds messed up, but Saix is my favorite Organization member. I guess it has a lot to do with the drama filling him. He seems uncaring and mean-spirited, but he started out as a believably realistic teenager and his friendship with Lea at the time was easy to buy. Years after becoming a Nobody, he fully deludes himself into thinking he doesn't have a heart (to a higher degree than everyone else). But the interesting thing about him is that he does want things to go back to how they were despite how cruel he is. He does still consider Axel to be his best friend and he'll stop at nothing to "get" a heart and get his life back. Kirk Thornton does a spectacular job expressing the cold nature and anger of him as well as capturing the more easy-going personality of Isa. I'm always thinking "Will Saix be redeemed in KHIII?" In one of the trailers, he meets up with Axel on the Clock Tower (although, that could be a flashback). I'm really invested in seeing the closing of his arc.

Huh...after KH3, the conversation between Saix and Axel takes a potentially new perspective. "If you could save one of them, why would you choose the puppet. Or let me put it another way, which would you rather suffer the loss of: some make-believe friendship, or a real one." At the time, it seemed as if Saix was talking about Xion and Roxas at first, and possibly the "real friendship" was between Axel and himself. However, it is quite possible that he was talking about HER. If Axel had to choose between Xion and HER, why would he choose the puppet the Organization created rather than the friend they joined in the first place to rescue?

Namine: Sora won't be able to wake up at this point. DiZ: Surely, you could do betta!

Now that i think about it, roxas would have been a good use of finding ven In castle oblivion, probably the only other person who could have found them other than aqua

I remember when I first did this mission or, part where Riku is snooping around Castle Oblivion. I would figure that this would be the first time him and Roxas fought, and Riku would lose. because it's mentioned in Kingdom Hearts 2 that Riku fought Roxas beforehand and lost and he realize he needed the power of Darkness to win so it would be during that second fight in the world that never was where he would be victorious. But I guess they just forgot that detail? Lol. Oh, this series and it's in consistencies.

say, why don't you use (at least slightly) upscaled versions of the ds cutscenes through like, an emulator? cuz honestly those cutscenes can be hard to watch
