Thanks, yeah later in the story the cybermen refer to the partially human cyberman as a cybrid, to which I took as they he wasnt fully converted. I also wanted to make the conversion process look brutal as if you read the books like killing ground goes into detail on how brutal, obscene and disgusting the cyber conversion process is.

I imagine the conversion process to be efficient, "clean", clinical and rather painless. At least, painless in not so overtly excruciating. With as much material recycled as discarded. I know _Doctor Who_ likes to convey the "body horror" aspect of it but for me, the Cybermen would be too efficient to be simply cutting flesh with buzzsaws as if Tobin Bell from _Saw_ was doing all the work in the operating suite for them...

@@fletcherhamilton3177 I get what you mean, but I hardly think it would be painless. Given their propensity for efficiency, I think it would be worse. A cyberman doesn't care about pain tolerance, and they probably wouldn't bother using any anaesthetic or something of the sort if it was cheaper and quicker to just get right in there. They don't care about aesthetics, or cleanliness (unless it becomes a problem) or medical niceties. It's not as if the converted cyberman is going to have any ill feelings about the process afterwards, anyways.

Oh I love kingdom of silver. I like the idea of cyber tomb worlds/breeding planets. I also liked the idea of a people trying to use cyber technology to genuinely help their people and unwittingly doom it.

Believe it or not, the classic invasion/revenge cybermen where meant to be in it. In gaimans original script the chess cybermen and display ones where mean to be the revenge style and at the end there was meant to be a shot involving a council of cybermen, in the revenge/invasion/earthshock styles, but Moffat had him change that, and they didn't have the budget to make the revenge suits so they had to settle for the cybus ones.

I think the Cybermen deserves a break from the series after the two part series 12 finale, they were completely wasted in the finale, that is I think they deserve a holiday for a least about 5 - 8 years.

@@benjaminjamesmiller5208 yeah I hate to say it but I kind of agree, I thought ascension of the cybermen was good but then like all of stories they are relegated to a back seat. And ashads plan to make them robots big mistake. This is the problem with new who. The writers don't understand the cybermen. They are written as pure robots and not cyborgs. For me personally the last good TV cyberman story was Earthshock. But they are fantastic in the BF audios they are so creepy and disgusting in the audios, but the TV show just struggles to get them right.

@@Tigershark_3082 I don't really get why Doctor Who doesn't have more regular immortal/long-lived people who happen to have synthetic body parts/entire bodies. Like in Cyberpunk 2077. They still look like organic human beings, but without the downside of aging and disease. Cybermen feel sociologically improbable imo When you think about it, they have the technology for these things, so it doesn't really make sense to just accept a life of 70 years when you could have a much longer and less painful life. I don't really buy the whole moralising about accepting death. I think it's good that technology can extend our lives. We've already done this with things like penicillin, surgery, cancer treatment. Villains like Cybermen and the Borg aren't very intriguing to me, and I think it's weird or even kinda messed up that the Doctor would probably scold me for wanting to go against nature or some rubbish like that.
