Brought me to tears. My Scottish heritage spoke to me. Hopefully, one day, I will get there! My mother's family, her parents, were from the Isle of Lewis. She visited as a kid then got to go with her sister about 5 years before she passed. Her dream was reached.

Hey guys Danny here me and Ashleigh followed you for along time loving the renovation! After seeing your adventures we’re about to finish our van renovation and heading off to Europe for three months next week! I’m self employed heating and gas engineer and see your having some problem with the plumbing. You’ve got to be sure the loft tanks aren’t filing, as long as they’re fully empty you’ll have no water feeding the gravity hot and cold water and the radiators. You will have a lot of water retained in the pipes and radiators so if you do remove a radiator and water continues to flow don’t fear just contain it and remove the water till it stops again as long as the tanks are empty you wont be refeeding the pipes so your okay to strip out and remove what you can. Couple tips do not remove the 15mm copper pipe feeding the tanks that will be live all the way to your stop cock which would usually be under the kitchen sink. If the tanks are still being fed by water even tho you’ve isolated the valves some old valves can fail so use some string and tie the float valve up so it stops filling. Honestly as long as your not feeding the pipes then any water you get will be a couple buckets and finish leaving you free to strip out the drained pipes the only pipe that should be left still live feeding water will the be the cold mains which will feed the kitchen tap and the loft tanks only. Grab yourself a angle grinder and go to town on the unrequited pipe work if your upgrading to a pressurised system Then I would isolate at the kitchen tap and strip everything and go for fresh but depends on what you can continue to use with new layout and design. Hopefully helpful and not sounding like nonsense 😂 happy to offer any advise if you need! P.s we think you should name the lawn mower Robocrop or sir lawns a lot Keep up your amazing content and beautiful energy!

Craig, you need to listen to your plumber better. The hot water cylinder is filled from the big tank in the loft. And the heating is filled by a small tank in the loft. And both are feed from your main drinking water. And the radiators, also will still have water in them downstairs as the drain off valve is probably no lower. So if you leave the valves on the pipes. Take the rads off from the union the nut that goes onto the rad it's self. And then use the rad valves on the pipe to drain the rest of the water out the system. Then you need to cap the pipes that go to the tanks to stop them refilling. Before you turn the water back on. I hope this helps. Go guys.

The green thing is a cylinder not a boiler (except you may have an immersion heater in it), it is normally used to provide hot water to the taps and is heated via the heating loop from the boiler / heat source, therefore it will be full of water so not sure what your plumber was advising, unless all you are keeping are the cold feeds to toilet and washing machine, which is fair enough. Also the hose was not unravelled so you possibly had a kink in it 🤔

Ember that there will be water in the pipes upstairs, so when you take the rads off downstairs, gravity will force the water out. However it would be wise to find the supply, unless it is coming from the tanks in the loft, trace the pipe work from the bottom of the tank in the loft to see where the water goes
