Marines with Kilo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, conduct a fire support and coordination exercise at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., April 20 to April 24, 2020. Kilo Battery participated in the exercise to practice suppressive fire before their upcoming deployment. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Lance Cpl. Shane T. Beaubien)

2nd regiment of Belgian field artillery here, glad to see you guys working as a well oiled machine. Even though Belgium only uses 120mm mortars and 105mm howitsers we can still bring some massive pain the the battlefield if needed. I'm proud to be one of many artillerymen/women! I'm Enlisted, I get shipped to bootcamp in 2 months and the MOS i picked is 0811. My uncle who I look up to since my dad wasn't around much was a 0811 and I it inspired me to do the same

Semper Fidelis marines. I am an American Civil War reenactor. I am apart of the 2nd Minn. Battery of Light Artillery. We portray the original battery that fought during the war. We are an artillery battery so we fire a Ten-pound Parrot rifle, a cannon that fires well, ten pound projectiles. It is amazing to see how similar the mechanics of firing an 1860's style cannon to a modern day howitzer. I am 20 years old and would love to be a modern cannoneer, but unfortunately I am medically unable to join the military. Anyway, whoever is reading this and is serving or has served, thank you so much for your service.

“Who cares we can just use a single accurate projectile...” This view is so flawed. Anybody who’s experienced an artillery barrage will tell you that there is not a more demoralizing and effective support weapon on the battlefield. The ability of artillery to pound enemy positions for hours, days, or even a week is unmatched by anything.

No other weapon? Yeah, no other weapon takes a dump as much as a tank. No other weapon throws track more times than it gets rounds down range. Tanks are limited. Arty is not. That is why the Corps isn’t wasting anymore time on the Abrams. Arty however will still be around for at least 10 more years.

Eduardo Duarte Obviously nothing is always going to be perfect. Most failed fire missions are from incorrect data from fdc, not the gunline. And arty is pretty damn mobile if you ask me. What we lack in mobility we make up for in range so it balances out. And yes I am aware they are doing away with most arty, but not immediately as they did with tanks. Arty is going to he around for at least another 10 yrs as I previously meantioned.
