The resources thing would mean something to me if I didn't always use the Stonemeier realistic resources with Kingsburg. The first box was practically made for this game. But overall I prefer the art of the 1st edition, and will be happy to keep mine.

I was looking for a review of the new Kingsburg. Ideally by the Dice Tower folks. And here one is, published 15 minutes ago!

I'm with ya, Tom... I like the dice with pips more too. Like you said, the new dice are a bit too busy.

I laminated my old copy's player boards. I suppose I'll have to do the same with the new ones too.

I just read where they released a REVISED edition... apparently there was something in the 2nd that they felt needed a tweak...

The new version pales in comparison looks wise. It reminds me of anything Iello does compared to other companies... just vibrant colors and not a simple, flat look.

I personal HATE the super tiny tokens. They are going to be very easy to drop on the floor and lose. I also am not keen on how flimsy thin the boards are. Mine came with minor warping, but it's enough to make it easy to bump and then your super tiny tokens get all messed up. I'm fine with the new art. It is a good value with both games being in the box and the new modules seem neat. For once Z-Man gives a good value ($45 for everything). I'm happy with it, but I wish it would have cost a bit more to get actual thick boards and I agree with your views on the arrangement for player boards.

Fingers crossed the original expansion will drop in price now so that I can afford it!!!

Thanks for the comparison, Tom! As for me, the only good thing about the new, Constipated, edition is that the game is back in print - but why would they break the whole art direction? It's like they wanted to make one of those cool Trading in Mediterranean games :( I think original game would be a great present to many people, but this new version is not something I want to buy or recommend to my friends.

They originally promised the module would be released separately for the 1st edition.

If I was gifted a copy of the new version, I think I would also keep it just solely for the new module too. That looks really cool. But that alone isn't worth buying a copy of the new one.

The first edition cost $140 but the latest edition is $70... Looks really fun though, elder signs meets Lord of waterdeep?

Tom you are saying that components are pretty much the same but to me they are not even close. You didn't even show any of the cards. I'd like to see Sam make the same comparison video. He did great job on Colosseum and TI.

Gonna stick with the original and expansion; new version is a no brainer if you don't have it yet but is it worth getting just for the new module? No.

Interesting - this has been on my wishlist for a while. Might have to bite the bullet with the new version. Although, for me, it looks like a bit of a mish-mash of up- and downgrades. I think the new board looks less busy and cleaner, but I prefer the character art. Tiny tokens look annoying, and I think the old player boards were better. But the new resources are nice. Still - as someone who doesn't own the original, I think it's a no-brainer

So the new one has a better board, better dice, and better resources. The old one had better building boards, and better cardboard tokens. The new one comes with expansions. I think I'll go for the new one.

Tom you might be in the minority with the dice, but I am definitely right there with you.

I do think the graphic design has improved, save for some component choices. The only thing that bugs me is the monochromatic, brownish colour palette. Makes the game look much more serious than it is.

This reprint is a downgrade! (Except for the variable character resources.) The only plus is the inclusion of it's expansion.

New board is better, old one looks too busy. The characters are nicely spread out on the new one.

Dice, boards, componentes ALL bad. Origin very best .
