C. David Lillicot. NO Part of my film can be used in any format without my Written Permission. Silent Film. I shot this film around Christmas and New Year 1973-1974. Too many sky shots, but the 'Village Look' to it is Historical. There were no houses between Kingscliff and Pottsville. I shot this film on a pocket "Eumig" Super-8mm film movie camera. For Copyright Reasons i did not include my music and song sountrack. Produced by David Lillicot.

Thank you for this great footage. I grew up around Sexton's Hill, Banora Point at 3:29 and was only about two years old when this was shot. It's amazing how easily we can recognise the places even though plenty has changed.

Lived in Kingy when I first married in '94 in Moss St then again in 11 Valiant Street from '04 to '19. Bought the old house there, knocked it down and built a new one. Raised our girls there until they moved out and then my marriage split. Just sold the house last year. Great part of the world. Seeing the changes from '88 till '19 were amazing. Very very different place. Cudgen Creek is still the same and the Moreton Bay Fig at the roundabout is massive now. Unfortunately moved to Sydney, miss the place and my friends. Time marches on.

Thanks David ... ghee! 1973 that's when I went bush and never went back to the gold coast until my daughter took me a few years ago for the night markets on what was once the spit I think. In the early 70's we would head straight to coolangatta to bypass surfer's paradise èt al. Coolangatta still had that feel abt it. Bruce Small the mayor of the Gold Coast att led the never ending story of development of greed and eventually the family oriented camp grounds where you could pitch a tent were replaced by the investment crowd and condo's and rentals of what's in it for me.

So lovely to see the Kingscliff of my idyllic childhood summer holidays. We used to walk past that strip of shops every day for 6 weeks on our walk from the Caravan Park to Cudgen Creek., sometimes stopping at the post office to check for redirected mail, or at the chemist for sunscreen, or the newsagent for a special treat of a comic book if we'd been really good all week, or fish & chips once a week at the corner shop there. I used to walk to the service station opposite the Takeaway shop to fill up the gas bottle or buy mantles for the lanterns. We used to camp in a tent on the end of the caravan park nearest to the Surf Life Savers' Club - on Jasmin Jaywalk - all of the access lanes to the tents had funny little names. Such happy memories ...

Wow. Bless you for uploading. Content like this is what really gives youtube its value. Disturbingly, I don't recognize ANYTHING in the Surfers Paradise segments. I can only really identify the sidewalks along the Esplanade. Did I see The Clock Hotel? Hmmm....

Born and bred kingy local , man has it changed I remember when casuarina was like 4 houses on a hill then all this development etc.. most things change but a few remain the same , feel as though has lost its sense of community though , all these new faces good for money for area , but at what cost …

hey there . At the very start of the film there is a hill with a bunch of dead trees on it . Do you happen to know where that is ? I have some old slides with the same hill and would like to find out its location. Thanks

I Started my Film at my Parents house, then later my Parents New house. Both were south-west of the beach, on a hill. The 'back road' to Murwiilunbah was surrounded by Sugar Cane fields, and some New Houses. My Dad built 6 of them. Could it be Sexton Hill? or the Pine Trees behind ny Parents house. Please put you slides on the Kingscliff Facebook Page, and/or the Facebook "Kodachrome" Group.

That was in '73. Imagine today, with the world population explosion, all these areas filled with houses, pollution, mynas and rodents. 😣
