A true pioneer among roller coasters. This broke the mold of the wooden coasters that existed at the time, and did something rarely, if ever, seen up to that point. And Kings Island built the entire thing in-house. Without The Beast, we wouldn't have great rides like The Voyage today. The Beast deserves respect.

After the 3rd tunnel there should add a 1,000 ft. drop that would be cool. A 1,000 ft. drop into a dark tunnel would be peacefully delicious. Also maybe put a hologram of what looks to be like a concrete wall after the 1,000 ft. drop into the tunnel. Also put a flying glass aquarium with alligators in it that follows you above your head while your riding because it's safe

Rode this yesterday 8 times and must admit after being at so many theme parks the beast still could be my all time favorite. There are a few things videos will never show. 1. The horrendous sound the beast makes when going through the tunnels. When leaving the first tunnel the beast screams louder as you exit. 2. The darkness of the tunnels. Cameras brighten them up but they are pretty dark even in the day. 3. Night time riding when it’s completely dark in the woods. All that to say, if you want a different ride experience, do the very front, the very back (seat 18) for the roughest ride, or seat 17 which is way smoother than 18 but still has the bite of the back. Reason for this is because there are 3 rows to a car and the middle one has no wheels which makes it smoother (a lot). Enjoy!

Did they fix it? When I went to ride it two years ago it was one of the most unbearable experiences I think I've ever had while riding a coaster. My friend and I were thrashed around, our heads nearly collided at one point. It literally hurt to ride the ride at nearly all times, especially on the straightaways where it not only shook you from side to side, but bounced you up and down at the same time, which sucked because I find the layout and setting to be awesome. Once we got off the ride, and the ride operators asked how it went, people were literally booing and asking to get off the ride asap. I've never seen that before on any of the coasters I had ridden, and I've ridden some pretty rough rides.

lol you guys must have literally never gone anywhere besides Kings island. Its so incredibly outrageously absurdly stupid to even call this a top 20 coaster, let alone number 1, that you guys are just clearly speaking from 0 experience at all. It has next to no g-forces at all, 50% of the ride is literally just going straight like a fucking railroad more than a roller coaster, its not intense, not scary, not exciting except the 20 seconds you spend in that double helix, but even then the speed just isn't that high and the turn just isn't that sharp. Its just brisk and a fun little trip. It wouldn't even be a top 10 coaster at Cedar Point or Six Flags Magic Mountain. This thing is also brutally uncomfortable like most older Wooden Coasters that have now been demolished to replace them with something more comfortable. Brutal neck strain does not equal exciting forces, just pain. Roller coasters are one area of development that have unquestionably, conclusively, factually gotten better and better over the years. COmparing some old Relic like the Beast to modern coasters like Steel Vengeance is just ridiculous - They've learned a lot about how to pack in thrills since building The Beast.

I often hear or read complaints about how The Beast is such a rough ride. If I may point a couple of things out: First - it's a ROLLER COASTER!!! Second - it's a WOODEN roller coaster!! Third - its 44 years old!! and Fourth - it ain't called The Beast because it's a smooth, quiet Ferris wheel-type of ride (did I mention that IT'S A ROLLER COASTER?!?). Any time I'm at King's Island, I don't leave the park without riding it at least once. I love it now just as much as I did in 1978, the first time I rode it, when I was 12 years old. And King's Island, I salute you for keeping it for almost a half century; it puts a big, stupid grin on my face every time I ride it, and I thank you for introducing it to us all. Because - class? - ITS A ROLLER COASTER!!! And one of the best ever...

I plan to visit King's Island next season, as I've never been there. I'm a little closer to Cedar Point so I've always just gone there. It appears K.I. has a very comparable set of coasters. I've also heard The Beast is an amazing night ride. I'll be sure to check it out.
@mhtube012 жыл бұрын
Lol I agree with your points and I'm sure many people are comparing it to Mystic Timbers which is very smooth. I personally didn't find The Beast very rough when I first rode it back in 2019. My wife really enjoyed it too. Sure it's bumpy in some spots like some of the higher speed turns but I've ridden MUCH rougher woodies that are also inferior rides. The Beast was built during a different era of roller coaster technology and it was completely designed and built by Kings Island in house! The imperfections give the ride a lot of character and the layout is just so different from anything else out there. That second drop into the helix is pretty intimidating! The way you keep gaining speed into that small tunnel is crazy! KI just announced they're refurbishing about 2000 feet of track on The Beast this winter so I'll be looking forward to ridiging it again in the near future to see how it compares.

Just a bunch of bros hanging out in the woods, making their backyard rollercoaster in an analog world. Truly an underrated engineering marvel of the US.

Rode it for the first time in my life last week.. we live about 2 miles from Kings Island, my experience was really smooth.. they say wood roller coasters can vary from day to day

40+ years old, still holding world records and ranked in the top 5 wooden roller coasters on the planet year after year. Let that sink in...

@@dizzotizzo69 Yea, 50th anniversary full-retrack (and maybe a little re-profiling) is in order, i think

Unrequited apparently it is actually coming next year

@@adray239 Oh, wow, really? Beast re-track? I mean, it makes sense, they'll be finishing the 2nd half of re-tracking Racer this winter
@adray2392 жыл бұрын
@@unrequited8200 yes but I Heard it's not a full retrack, only selective retracking on select rougher parts. It would be accompanied by a reworking of the current structure in some parts of the ride. M'y assumption from this is that this would allow Them to remove some trims but that is yet to be confirmed

I want to ride this one more time. We frequented KI yearly. Used to have a giant slide. When the Beast was finished, ready to go it was killer! That double helix? WHOA! My husband didn't do coasters like ever. The Beast was his first. He screamed like a girl and got back in line to do it again. I just need one last hurrah, as we are in our 60's Now. The Beast and a slice of pizza. Good times.

Crazy how this seems tame in this video, particularly second half. This ride is super intense and great in person. Would recommend!

I went in this when it was new and the tallest freestanding roller coaster in the world. Barely tall enough but I remember that day.

Mark my words, I just rode this for maybe that 110-120th time in my life today, it’s gotten way worse over every visit, and today was the worst, I have a strong feeling it’s not gonna be rideable but 2025

Does anyone remember the moving simulator type rides they would place in shopping malls/carnivals back in the mid to late 80's (I was 10 in 1989) They always featured "the Beast" as an option. They would close the door, then air would start blowing on everyone when the thing tilted to go downhill 😂 please reply if you remember!

The beast has always been my favorite coaster in the park and everyone should ride it of a night in the front seat cause it’s amazing and so much fun.
