I remember I was a teenager in '84 and the Kingsmen were singing at the City Auditorium in Jackson, Ms. I was standing by the entrance and their bus was parked about 100 yards away facing me...Jim Hamill stepped next to the driver's seat and looked straight at me. When he noticed I saw him he waved me to the bus. I ran to the bus, he opened the door and told me, "Come on in here!". I went up the steps as I did he went and sat on the couch and I sat in a seat behind the driver's seat. We talked a bit some of the group came and went on the bus ...they said hello to me. Jim got a kick out of letting a star struck teen boy on his bus...I don't remember what we talked about, but I was on cloud 9! A few years later a friend of Jim's, Mrs. Mckelya ( I wish I could remember how to spell it) talked Jim into letting me sing a song with the Kingsmen at the VFW Pavilion in Hernando, Ms. I was so nervous my mic hand was shaking. Other than that it went well. Talk about making a young man's dream come true..Jim was so nice to me...I love him, he's one of my Heroes

“Lurch” seems like the only decent person on this stage. Why put down others! Even in jest? Took away the song for me and I clicked off the video. Do better.

Sorry if you don't like Brother Jim's humor, he spread the gospel message through song and word for better than half a century, once the Kingsmen sang at the Whitehouse were willing to walk away when they were given the list of proprietary and decorum and felt that it would require them to compromise (the president's people backed down) he mentored dozens of young men both in the music and in manhood. Right or wrong he was from a generation (my father's generation) that didn't sit around and discuss feelings. They built bonds of friendship through banter and joking and working and I suspect they were a stranger better and more Godly generation than today's. Perhaps you look at Proverbs 29:16 or Matthew 12:36 and think they apply here and maybe your right though I don't think so, but if you look at the life and fruit of Mr Hamill's life and career and say do betterment I suspect his response would be " back at you Sonny" but we cannot be certainly because Big Jim Hamill heard well Don thou good and faithful servant back in 2007
