What an absolute treasure to see my great-grandfather as the square dance caller near the end of the film! So many memories came rushing back as I watched this time capsule of early Kingsport. Thank you so much for sharing.

Are you talking about the Square Dance Caller? He seemed to be enjoying himself.

@@SKYGUY1 yes. I edited the comment. Not sure where my brain went for that moment. Lol. Thank you.

That was a fun watch ... all 22 minutes of it. I have found that the more I become "a part of history", the more I enjoy it. Even the little bit that came before me.

I never would have expected to come across this video. Its my home town i lived in every corner of that place lol. This was facinating to watch. Things are different now, a chemical bubble and not a lot if anything besides a big summer time celebration. That cotton mill is one if the many abandon buildings now. Now its mainly a town built around a chemical plant. My biological father worked at that paper factory till he wound up laid off. Kingsport is somewhat walkable and theres an adorable general store that i visit often for groceries we've got multiple walmarts but i just prefer the general store

The drive by at 9:38 appears to be Watauga St eastbound when it intersects with Oak St coming in from the right.

Fine video! I was born in that hospital in 1951, lived there until 1964. Dad worked at Mead, the paper co. in video. Many memories, a great place to grow up! Thanks

What year is this from? Absolutely love seeing this. My grandfather was born here in 1940. My family lines came from TX back to Al then to Ga then to TN and finally landed in SC. Wild ride lol. And to think all that from late 1800's through the 1950's . Traveler's for sure.

@@vernwallen4246 that's awesome. Just have a lot of memories there and around there. Going to Legion pool next door. We had Boy Scout Jamborees and job fairs and arts and crafts! Just remembering my 80s childhood, I suppose. You can never go home, but it sure is nice to remember!

What year is this? I think I heard the narrator say it had been 25 years since the 1917 beginning, so around 1942?
