6 ай бұрын[KiniNews] Former finance minister Daim Zainuddin claimed trial for failing to abide by an MACC’s notice to disclose his assets encompassing 38 firms, 25 pieces of land and property, seven luxury vehicles, and two investment fund accounts.
Daim, who was in a wheelchair, made the plea in a small voice when he was charged under Section 36(2) of the MACC Act 2009 at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court this morning.
The tycoon was alleged to have committed the offence by giving a sworn written statement that did not comply with the MACC notice under Section 36(1)(a) of the same law.
In a statement issued to the press after the court appearance, Daim accused Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s administration of abusing its powers and abandoning reform.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, Bersatu has agreed to pursue legal action to vacate the seats of its elected representatives who have pledged support for Anwar.
The party’s secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said Bersatu is ready to face by-elections (as a result).

AS A NUETRAL OBSERVER ... I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED with Daim's REACTIONS to the government's investigations and subsequent charges against him. I had expected him to say something like this: "The government want to investigate me, PLEASE GO AHEAD! Want to charge me, BRING THEM ON!!! I will CLEAR MY NAME in court. MY CONSCIENCE IS CLEAR. I SLEEP💤 WELL at night, every single night!!!" But instead, he and his wife started to Throw Tantrums in public. Didn't look like the behaviour of clear-conscience persons. 😊

Exactly! The guy acts like it’s the French Revolution and the peasants are in it for blood. Have your day in court and prove your innocence. You’ve already changed one legal team so certainly you have some knowledge of your own defence and can even disagree with their advice. Don’t trot your wife out to spew self serving rhetoric and drone on about injustice and corruption. No one sympathises with a mysterious billionaire ex politician. Rarely does anything positive come out of that word combination.

When he was wheeled to the court, he seems half death and very weak. At the press conference, wow totally different guy. Boy , isn’t he good at acting. Further more, what is the big hooha. He was asked by MACC to answer/reply what are his assets and where he got the money to become so rich. They were just asking and if you don’t answer then you will be charged. As a law abiding citizen, you just reply. Nobody is above the law. What so grant about him that he can just ignore it. The MACC did not say he is corrupted. They just want to know his assets. He us unwilling to provide. Now isn’t that suspicious?

They are the real wolves; all of them joined forces, wanting to oust Anwar to protect the empires they built when in power. Save the country? If a PM were competent, he would have brought the country to the sky when he had 22 years to accomplish that mission, but he made Malaysia to be one of the most corrupt countries in the world. MACC should consider preventive corruption. Checking on assets of politicians on a regular basis and pulling them up for false or non declaration.Reward whistle blowers who alert MACC.

Why is it hard to disclose his assets if you have nothing to hide? Growing up we as rakyat marhaen can only look as you pillage the country’s monies. For the first time, we have a leader who truly wants to clean up the country. Return the monies… you and your kids and grandchildren had over reaching riches which belong to Malaysians.

Is it so hard to diam and mahathir to prove the source of income and assets ? Are they above the law & IRBM ? Just prove you accumulated wealth in a lawful manner. Or just go to jail. Imho he's a flight risk.
