The 4k I recommend is 3 Days of the Condor. Classic thriller from the 70s starring Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway. Great transfer of a great film for $17.99.

Gotta love those gritty masterpieces from the 70's like Hardcore (1979). Another great one is Straight Time (1978), with a brilliant performance by Dustin Hoffman.

FWIW, John Hughes produced Career Opportunities, so if you're a Hughes completionist, I think it's definitely worth owning for that reason as well.

Proud owner of all the Kino 4ks so far all with slips. loved Scarlet Street, leviathan was fun as was Face Off , The Manchurian Candidate the black and white transfers are superb. Don’t forget Kubricks Killers Kiss as well also a Kino 4k. Marathon Man is an excellent pick.

I actually bought a bunch of movies but I also bought DVDs if they were cheaper. I still like DVDs. Man on the Moon is great. I stuck to $6 releases of older/silent and horror. Up the Creek has great cover art. I haven’t seen Hardcore - I’ll see if it’s streaming. Some Like it Hot - amazing film. The Kubrick slipcases are so cool. I love the commentaries - I watch them all.

Excellent. I ended up with thirteen movies combined from two purchases. Not going to list them here but I love Kino's sales. They are always worthwhile and offer outstanding movies, both classic and new.

Ken, have you watched The French Connection yet? If not " what are you waiting for"? To Live and Die in L. A. is great, but William Friedkin's best other than The Exorcist is The French Connection, plus one of Gene Hackman's best performances.

I saw Spaceballs A TON before I ever saw Star Wars and it IS my Star Wars movie. I like it way better than any of the Star Wars movies. Galaxy Quest, which is the best comedy version of Star Trek, is also great, and it's gotta get a 4K. I had the pleasure of seeing that one in the theater. I really wish we'd get a VSU or Arrow for Galaxy Quest, but I think Paramount will likely put it out themselves because it's such a Trek parody.

Oddly enough silence of the lambs that said it wouldn't have a slipcover, but the one that just came in yesterday had a slipcover. The only one that ordered that did was to live and die in LA.

I ordered 5 movies on 3/29/2024 from Kino Lorber. The left out the "The Monster Squad" 4K. I paid for it, but they have yet to ship it because the fulfillment warehouse "made a mistake." I think this will be the last time I order from them.

I'm on the fence about picking up Manchurian Candidate in the sale. I have the Criterion blu, but at that price it's so tempting to upgrade, even if I lose some of the special features.

I got about 20 movies last week and 14 more coming replacing some dvds John wayne and Charles bronson also got Frances the talking mule couldn't pass it up,hard core and some 4ks

Hardcore is great. Unfortunately, a big KZfaq channel made a video about it recently shitting on the ending, which I think will dissuade a lot of people from seeking it out.

Ken, I went nuts on the Kino sale. I did two passes already, but I may have to do a third pass to grab Hardcore. The Hard Way is decent. James Woods is great in everything I see him in. We need Diggstown on Blu-ray/4K. I'm not a big Jim Carrey fan, as I think he's mostly a total rip off of Jerry Lewis with his slapstick, BUT he was great in Man on the Moon, which I went to see because of Kaufman's ties to Jerry Lawler and pro wrestling. I'm not completely sure, but I'm pretty sure nobody knew the Letterman incident was a work until that movie came out. Letterman wouldn't book wrestlers anymore for a very long time because of Lawler slapping Kaufman out of his chair. And he was in NY, which was the original WWF territory back in the territory days, so there have always been very close NY and WWF ties. They used to run MSG shows all the time and show them on Closed Circuit/the MSG Network. Anyhow, that definitely deserves a 4K.

For those that liked Hardcore, I'd also recommend "8mm" with Nicholas Cage.

Does Kino Lorber give digital redemption codes for Movies Anywhere?

Back in July and August Kino announced they were working on Uncle Buck and Sneakers on 4K for a release later in the year. Eight months later and still no word. Do you know if they're still planning to do so?

I'd be fine with getting Kinos without the slip if the title of the movie on the spine wasn't a generic font it looks ugly on the shelf
