This video explains the recent issue regarding the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board #KIIFB and the #cagreport regarding the same. KIIFB was issuing #masalabonds for raising the investment in the London stock exchange. The recent cag report stated that the issuing of masala bonds and funding investments through the rupee denominated masala bonds. The State Finance Minister is saying that there is nothing unconstitutional about the masala bonds or investments. The opposition is alleging that Kerala is going into a debt trap with all these debt investments from abroad.
This video also explains the concept of bond as a debt instrument and the idea of rupee-denominated masala bonds and the pros and cons of the same.
As the issue is regarding the CAG report, this video explains the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) and its annual report and it's auditing system.
alexplain is an initiative to explain must know things in simple Malayalam. Because, sometimes, what we need is a simple explanation.

Great initiative 👍. I think there is a correction. KIIFB formed under KIIFB act 1999, but it was not given power to raise fund at that time, rather a body to study such infrastructure projects. And later in 2016, by an amendment to the KIIFB act, after LDF govt came into power, it has given power to raise fund off budget.

. Kiifb is grossly unconstitutional. The limit to sovereign debt is kept to protect the currency. If all state governments go for backdoor routes to amass debt as they please, it would lead to massive hyperinflation and failure of rupee.

I think we cannot say CAG is entirely a Central agency, because of its Constitutional importance similar to Supreme Court. So it's report is definitely an important one.
