One thing I find very interesting about The Forgotten Land is how well it fits in despite being in 3D, unlike the other Kirby games. This might just be me, but this didn't feel different from the other Kirby games I've played, and I mean that in the best way possible. The camera is likely why; it's unobtrusive, giving a good angle on the action with no need to alter it. I'm not even sure it's possible to move the camera outside of Waddle Dee town. I never tried, nor felt the need to.

If there's one thing I hope a sequel or game in this style has, its just a FEW more copy abilities. With a few exceptions, many of the upgrades feel very samey. Also, as someone who has played just about every kirby game, it would be awesome to see the movesets of copy abilities expanded beyond "ground attack" "air attack" and "charge attack". That being said, this game is still a 10 out of 10 for me, id rank it up there with the very best switch games.

These are my thoughts exactly as well. Sword was by far my favorite ability throughout the game due to it simply having a bit more variety in moves than the others, especially the 4th level of sword.

There definitely will be and the movesets will be expanded in the next one as well. I feel like the shift to 3d made them play it a lot safer/have to scrap a bunch of the 2d movesets

The copy ability moveset is definitely something I want to see expanded in later titles. Forgotten Land is a step in the right direction for the series, and I look forward to seeing HAL perfect 3D Kirby in the future.

I am also a big Kirby fan that has played almost every game. But I can't say I felt like I was missing out at all. I switched copy abilities regularly, and thoroughly enjoyed every single one a lot more than I did in the 2D games. Even with the more limited movesets I thought they did great with what they gave us. But I do think that if there is anything I would like the next game to expand upon again, it is absolutely the copy abilities. I really enjoyed how much this game feels like a devil may cry/bayonetta light at times, and I just want more of that.

One thing that I really appreciated about the floating as well is that it is waaay slower than the running. In old games it felt so easy to fly over the level. In the forgotten land, running and jumping truly feels like the most efficient way to get around.

I was surprised to learn that Kirby couldn't float as high as previous games, and how he has a limit, but I guess they didn't want this game to be TOO easy.
@Lowart
@Lowart 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can't think of a way for them to keep that part of him involved in 3D space. It would trivialize way too much of what they were going for here. Plus, I guess Kirby had more of a limit to their float in Kirby 64, so there's at least some precedent for it.

I was always thinking whether the game's march to 3D was that big a deal. In theory and in my mind, it is, since it IS very long since 3D Rumble or even Kirby Wii that a full 3D deal is delivered I didn't feel that too much when playing this game, since the structure and the way I play is familiar. And I only realized now that, this is an insane feat. It's 3D Kirby, but it doesn't seem to give the burden of changing views to the player, instead just treating them with well crafted challenge stages. It's a big upgrade, but the upgrade doesn't come with many growing pains. Kudos to HAL, and kudos to you.

Yeah, this game dethroned planet Robobot for me, and I wasn't expecting that at all. I thought this game would be great, but I was expecting it to be held back by being the first actual 3D Kirby. I am so used to games that switch engines or that go in a new direction to feel a bit empty and make me feel like something was missing. Even breath of the wild gave me that feeling for as much as I love it. But even with how few copy abilities we got, this game felt like a complete experience to me. I hope the next 3D Kirbo can make me feel like this game was a prototype for that, and I am sure it will. But man, this was 100% my favorite Kirby game.

I only just beat the first boss, but so far my only complaints for this game come from some of the control choices, the fact you have to hold a button to spit out a swallowed ability, and the dodge is awkward to use, at least they made it so you can choose where to give you the power up right away or giving me agency to swallow, i was worried at first when the game was forcing me to gain a power from an enemy

@@caravaneerkhed EDIT: had to edit my comment because i realized the information i i provided about the Y button was false due to my button configurations being different....whoopsies.... My guess is because they wanted the Y button to serve as a way to rethink dropping your ability without insta-dropping it right away. If you make it so that you have to hold the Y button to drop the ability, it reduces the chance you would accidentally drop the copy ability and have a harder time picking it back up if you sucked in a mouthful object. That being said, it seems like the developers still didn't want to abandon insta-dropping copy abilities, so they still kept that affordance mapped to the minus button. Why the game doesn't tell you that, I don't know, but that's my guess anyway.
