3 жыл бұрынThe Kirby Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Wilkes-Barre, PA had it's Grand Opening on Friday 9-16-1986.
We at WBRE TV-28 broadcast our 6PM News LIVE, then followed by a 30-minute special.
Anchored by Vic Vetters. Reports from Rich Noonan, Mary Ellen Keating, Dan Gallagher, Bill Longworth, Weather from Mark Robert Hiller, Jim Miller on Sports, and Jerry Baum.

My Mom and Dad met at the old Paramount. Mom was a candy girl and my Dad was an usher. My grandfather was the projectionist and my Aunt Gracie was the ticket lady in the booth out front. Happy the Paramount has been reborn as the Kirby Center.

42:06 RIP Jerry Baum 1934-2023. He had a great broadcasting voice.

Wilkes Barre sounds like it was and is a community that works to keep alot of Civic events going for the people.

The initial report mixed up the Comerford and Paramount Theaters. The Kirby Center building is the old Paramount theater. The Comerford Theater was also on the Square. The two theaters, however, were completely separate.
