Kirby model C

A new video of the Kirby model C, from 1935 - 1939.
Showing the new bag my mother made, I painted the logo on.
Its not perfect but looks much better then the previous bag :)
This model was sold along side the "R" series.
The first "Kirby" model, they originally didn't come with a headlamp, but it wasn't long before it got added.

Thanks Ben, I need to do a video of my 2C once its restored, and re-make this video as I have a nicer 1C now with original bag. I have just realised I put the wrong date in my description to, woops!

Thanks, its currently in my room! I use a Kirby Tradition currently. At the time of the video I was using a Hoover Turbopower 2 autosence, which I pre-vacuumed the carpet with. Amazingly, this old Kirby picked up grit durring the video.

@vacboi98 ;) yep AND it got up grit on that run. Pretty good considering how old and how little bristles the brush roll has, infact its just a roller! Thanks, that bag took hours to make and decorate :)

This was made in mid 1936- mid 1937, because it has the headlight. In mid 1937 they introduced the model 2c.

@omegasignas They were made between 1935 and 1937. Not sure how to date is anymore accuractly, although the first model C's didnt have a headlight.

@vacboi98 oh and yes, it required only a few clicks, where the Tradition uses setting 3!

Thanks, this one was in really bad shape when I got it, and had no bag, hence the homemade one. I have since got another model C and made one really nice one, with original bag :)

Very cool, the oldest one I have is an early 500 series.

The I.D. tag fell off or was removed when I bought it years ago. I have since rebuilt it, but I do know for certain it is any model between a 509-512. It has the toggle switch and the original belt lifter was red with a white, carved Kirby logo on it. I, also, have a 519 that was made in January of 1960 that I have rebuilt as well.

Ahh no that's a shame! Almost impossible to ID without the tag if its one of those models, which it certainly sounds like. They old ones are great to work on aren't they, many of mine are still awaiting to be restored.

Original model C: 1934-1937 (headlight added for 1935) Model 2C: 1938-1939 Model 3C: 1939-1940 Model 4C: 1940-1941

I'm not sure what parts are available for these, bearings and motor brushes for sure. A Kirby dealer/ distributor etc will be a good source to get parts directly from Kirby for you. Some parts from the 500 will fit, like wheels, etc. And some will not, it depends what parts you are talking about :) Hope that helps
