In reference to Kevin. To quote an even better deeply symbolic & psychological drama from HBO - True Detective season 1 "Do you ever wonder maybe if you're a bad man?" "No. The world needs bad men - we keep the other bad men away from the door".

This is probably the best analysis available on You Tube of any Tv series or movie. I have watched all three clips several times and they are expertly done, informative and worthy of the subject matter, essentially the best American Television series ever (along with Oz)

The Leftovers along with The Wire both stand hand in hand as the two greatest TV Shows I have ever seen. Each character has their own journey in such a short space of time, but Kevin is the greatest character of them all.

And, each character DOESN'T have their own journey. Many characters are just introduced and disposed of and not really touched on again. The characterization in The Leftovers is some of the worse I've ever seen. It's super inconsistent across episodes, and it's as if there is no actual traits that define some of the main characters because they hardly ever behave in ways that make sense. And yeah, The Wire blows it out of the water by such a gigantic long shot.

@@dasaten ma man you understood nothing, I am not even saying that I understand, but actually one of the main propositions of the show is that people are going to act erraticly because of the departure (even more then they already do in real life, or are you gonna tell me that the character development of the people you know in your life is stable black and white?). The character in the series just act acording with the intentions born from the hopelessness and confusion caused by the event. We cannot expect full arcs for the journey of each character on the show, in fact that is what the show teaches, give up your expectations and let the mistery be. Every character in this show is complex and beautifully played by the actors, maybe the best performaces that I've seen in all my life, from Nora, Kevin, Laurie, Kevin Sr, Matt, Patti, Meg, Tom, John and Erica Murphy, Michael and Evie Murphy, Dean and God. My god in my opinion just espetacular performances!!

Thanks so much for including the Actaeon myth, which I recognized immediately on my first viewing. I've been analyzing LOST since it originally aired, and have argued that the island is the axis mundi for years. The Actaeon myth (combined with the Callisto myth) shows up in the LOST episode "I Do." Kate is Atalanta, a mini version of Artemis. Kevin CALLIS is Actaeon, who sees her naked before their wedding. The definition of "stag" as a verb is "to spy on" or "inform" Lots to unpack in that episode. Lindelof seems obsessed with the axis mundi.

Hi everyone, I just can´t get my head around Lyv Tyler´s character, Megg Abbott. I feel there are a lot of plot holes on her. For example, Why did she join the GR if her mother died before the departure? What did the psychic from Miracle told her? (on that scene we just saw her coming out his house saying he was not the real deal), Why making it with Tom Garvey if she was planing to die or at least start a riot and leave? Why that obsession with Miracle and why trying to destroy it? It´s like they never answer any of her questions. Same for Eve, there is no development on when she contacted the GR or why joining them.
@aubreypressley1450
@aubreypressley1450 3 жыл бұрын
Meg joins the GR because she didn't get any closure herself with her mom and is very angry that other people get to just move on after this traumatic event that took her grief from her. She wants people to remember because she can't forget. And she doesn't care about the GR tenets she is just a pained person trying to hurt others. As for the psychic we aren't supposed to know what he says, just that it was probably real and it probably hurt her a lot because it didn't provide her with any real answers furthering her own anger that she couldn't end her search for meaning. And she very explicitly states why she wants to destroy social order in Miracle, they didn't lose anybody. Once again she's going in under this guise that they don't deserve happiness because they act like they're above others and can't truly understand the pain of the sudden departure. So she tries to make that the case with Evie and the infiltration of the GR. But really it is again just Meg's own pain coming out. She wants others to suffer as she did. Now as for why she banged Tom and all that? I have no idea. I'm sure there's more to it but it seems like this sort of thinly veiled attempt to manipulate him just because she wants to.
