Once you tried VR racing, there is no way back anymore. So cool. I recently read that Sony is busy using the PSVR2 also for PC games. Cant wait till that happens.

This is great hear from yourself who races for real life makes me feel so much better with myself racing in vr i feel like im really in race car especially in LMU now, i primarily use AMS2 i use quest 3 with 4070ti moza r5 with ks wheel i absolutely love it wish i could stay in rig 24/7 i have drive fast cars on track days and can totally compare vr sim racing to that experience

VR needs to be able to incorporate something that can detect where your hands are so the hands in the game will move the same as yours do in real life

Why? It's already pretty natural and immersive, the only times you move your hand basically is when you have a manual gearbox and for that they have standard animations.

@@boebsiebyarada9964 I just felt like that always took me out of the immersion is I’d be looking around the car but if I moved my hands in real life, nothing happens in game I know it’s not a huge thing definitely not game breaking or anything but I do think it would be kind of neat maybe just some bracelets that go around your wrist or gloves that are integrated with the VR hardware.

@@lukefisher8417 it's for sure fun true, it's possible in Assetto Corsa I believe with some mods. Good VR gloves can be a game changer, especially for flightsims for clicking buttons. I expected that affordable smooth VR gloves would be already here in 2024, but somehow the developments are slow.

This is pretty awesome. I was into VR back in 2016. Now I'm 49 and we're looking to retire in 2029 so expenditures have dried up. The most I can do is live vicariously through vids like this. Good stuff!

I have psvr2 and gt7 I love it in a f1 nearly everyday well sf19 or 23. It's mazing..... Hard to play on a TV alone now even a 4k TV still doesn't compare to the vr

I race in iracing and i struggled on a lot on a single screen. I decided to upgrade some pc part and was finally able to run vr stability. After that, using vr, i became substantially better. The moral of my little story is if you like racing but are just having a hard time give vr a chance. It will hook you in and never let you go. Its the biggest game changer ever

Great video! I’m honestly surprised that you don’t have a 6DOF motion rig set up for this. I think they might require their own dedicated circuit, though… which (in addition to the cost) might represent a real barrier for many people. Still… I think of all people *you* should have a proper moving rig to further bridge the gap between sim and real racing.

Ok. I've never owned a computer. How much does a great computer cost to build or buy. Would be for near future race sim setup. I play gt7 on psvr2 and have full a sim rig, dd wheel ect, but want to expand to ACC maybe iracing.

I just can't get ACC to run well in VR, iRacing runs like a dream. Im running a RTX4070 & Quest3. Maybe a video on Vr setup and setting would be great for ACC

ACC is a pain. I had to run Open XR and use foviated rendering. I have a 3090. I can now play ACC almost locked at 90fps with mid- high graphics settings. I did have to turn down the resolution a little though.

This guy is probably using DFR with the eye tracking in the headset. I own the Quest 3 and Pro and I never run ACC with my 3. DFR is a game changer for ACC and every new headset and sim should support it. Most people don't believe me that I have ACC running/looking as good as AMS2. I have a 4090 which helps quite a bit also. It just sucks that it cost so much $$ to run VR.

@@willstuart6666how are you getting 90fps? Running at 90hz should give you 45fps per eye. And 120hz would be 60fps per eye. That’s how VR works with refresh rates. So i guess if you have a headset that can run 180hz then you could get 90fps, but Q3 max refresh is 120hz.

@milesfast oh I don't know much about that. I just assumed it's 90fps simultaneously on both screens. Open XR has a feature where it displays the fps in the middle of the image. When that number says 90, I experience a nice smooth image. When it drops to less than 80, I start to get motion sickness.

I have the quest 3 and it’s great. I do feel I hit its limit though. The shimmering from aa and overall hazy look isn’t bad but it’s there. I’m so tempted to get a pimax, but there’s such a weird vibe to it. Between junky controllers, quality controls, out of stock, ect…. Feels sketchy

I don't know if it is the absolute future with VR racing, but like others, once I used VR in a racing game, I never wanted to go back to the Flat Screen racing. I do many STEAM racing games on my PC. The first track I tried VR with was doing the Indy Oval circuit in an open F1 vehicle. I spent more time looking at the scenery and grandstands than doing the actual racing. It just blew me away that I could look all around me from being in the drivers seat of the race car. If I wanted to I could step out of the drivers seat and walk around the vehicle in the pits. So much immersion with VR. take care.

There is a lot of potential dangers with Tech today for the Society. But this is taking many pepole that sadly cannot race, but loves Racing closer then ever before! It"s just SICK. But SICK in a very good way! So we are very lucky to experience this! That 25 years ago, we could only dream of! :)

Psvr2 in gt7 it's amazing for what it is! No need for a 2k gaming computer to be well immersed into your race. Is it the best? No. But it is damn good

Pimax Crystal seems to be the way to go, but perhaps I should wait for the GTX 5090 to be released first, later this year (hopefully). You said you drove this exact car in real life? How does the brake differ between ACC and real life? Daniel Morad said that braking in ACC was unrealistic because you can, and actually have to, brake 100%. But that depends on the type of car surely?

Been playing in V.R. since we've been able to get it. It certainly is NO flop. Anything is great in V.R.! I can race in my living-room and feel like I'm at a track somewhere else in the world. Where could there be any disappointment in that??? It's awesome .

Simracing in VR is awesome, especially if you couple it with bass shakers. Probably the next best thing if you can't afford racing in real life. My preferred sim is iracing but AMS2 and AC works well too. ACC runs horrible on VR unfortunately. Can't make it look good and keep 90fps at the same time so that's the only downside. Hopefully LMU will have proper VR support since that seems to look promising so far.

VR is great! However, eye strain, comfort, heat, and high end PC rig performance optimization are negatives that rarely get mentioned in videos like this. I run a Quest 3 but I also fall back to my flat monitor at least half the time for the ease and convenience factor.

if you're experiencing eye strain while in VR, you need to change some things in your setup, because this is not normal. It might be the IPD settings, gamma, maybe incorrect glasses prescription or out of date.

Nice ear.... I was just telling my wife this morning that Ive become addicted to VR sim racing. The added depth perception is game-changing for me (2 seconds faster on every circuit). Ive got a 3090. I was going to upgrade to a 4090, but I'm gonna try to hold out for the 5090 layer this year. Ill also get a Pimax crystal or Big Screen Beyond headset. I think the 5090 is going to inleash VR.

I would say not an expensive flop. First off, a vr headset is about the cost of any other game console and secondly it’s been proven to be amazing in racing and flight sims. So, not expensive, and not a flop. I rest my case!

I own a ps5/psvr2 and I own a 3090 pc with HP reverb g2. My PC setup running iracing and ACC is night and day better than the PSVR2 running GT7. Because of this, my ps5 is collecting dust. It doesn't matter if you get the Quest 3 or Pimax, either will be a huge upgrade over your psvr2.

I play GT7 in VR, I’m surprised more don’t play it that way. It’s more immersive than a screen in front and feels like you’re in the car. Isn’t that what sim racing supposed to be? Wish there were force feedback pedals for PS5 too then it’d be even better.

VR is the best. Racing and FPS games are my two favorite genres (aside from MMOs) and they're both just incredible in VR. Contractors and Contractors Showdown are the best FPS experiences money can buy, and they're both playable on Quest standalone. Nothing compares to VR, but it's impossible to really explain why it's so awesome. It just truly tricks your brain on a level that a screen never can ever come close to. You got a 7/10 ear right there. Maybe 8 out of 10 if you have a matching set.

just gave up on VR. It helped me develop quite a bit as a sim racer but switched back to screen and am quicker there. VR is too exhausting and really has some negative effects on the body/mind. Should not be used as much as most of us sim race. Also read about people developing permanent vertigo problems and just never wanted to put it on again as I’m becoming a pilot and that would screw me. I did notice funny feelings in my ears and issues with balance over time. Especially right after a session coupled with that VR hangover feeling it’s just not nice.

I think better to start off on like Dirt RAlly 2.0 All that extra stuff in GT to understand for new players is just overwhelming in rally it's just you alone against time. As far as "expensive" its not that much get like Quest 2 on the cheap and PC for like $800 can do it just fine and it won't be a Brick of a headset like pimax with all their quality control issues ( better get bigscreen beyond for that price range)

Maybe by the end of the year… if you have a gaming PC. PSVR2… is supposed to be getting some sort of official PC support… but Sony could still ruin it… yet. Fingers crossed it’s good and ACC, in PSVR2 becomes a realirty

The pimax is a decent piece of kit, but you certainly don’t need it to have a really good time in vr, it’s like the 4090 of vr’s we all want a 4090 but most can’t afford, a quest 2 is a great start for anyone wanting to get into vr and is very immersive like the pimax.

agree but the quest 2 does have it's drawbacks, it doesn't have as high resolution so may not look as good. It also has less FOV and framerate so a quest 3 is probably a better deal but still your point is valid and i have nothing else against it.

@@zxl7204 I've never used quest 3 but i heard the pancake lenses help you get a wider field of focus. I couldn't really get into vr that much because i hated not being able to focus on the periphery by moving my eyes and having to move my whole head. It almost felt like a form of torture i could only stand for short durations.

Vr will always be a flop unless they make the vr device cheaper. No way im paying ps5 £350, vr headset £530, steering wheel £230 just to play a game that cost under £60. Thats around £1000 just to play n thats just a Logitech g29 steering wheel on sale down from £300 😂

Quest 3 is enough. You need a rtx 4080 super to get the most out of VR with ACC.

@@thomasthemarstrain2141It should be fine. In fact, I upgraded to 4080 super from a 3080 ti. With ACC, you have to keep the pixel density under 120. 80 to 85 resolution scale.

I think foremost computers, iracing is best /easiest to run in VR. I've heard AMS2 looks good but I've never tried it. I was able to get acc to look decent on my HP Reverb by using the open xr toolkit. I'm almost locked at 90fps with mid & high settings on a 3090. Openxr seems intimidating at first to setup, but if I can do it anyone can - just youtube it.

I believe a purpose-built screen setup is the future. Wrap, curved, seamless.. and at a distance your eyes are able to focus on naturally, so that it can be used for an extended amount of time. I still can't believe the seamless monitor technology has been around as long as it has, and still hasn't made it into this hobby.

Intresting thought! VR brought me back to sim racing. There is something magical about the immersion you get in VR and the way you can actually look where you are turning regardless of how tight the turn is. Also the space saving you get and freedom of location is huge to me. Now I just want a vr the size of quest 3 but with more fov and I will be 100% happy

I had triples with all the stuff, Button box, ambient hue lights, canopy, all of it. Tried the Quest 3 for a few weeks exclusively. Tried to go back to the triples for one weekend just to realize once you did VR probably there is no way to go back to triples. Once you “sat in the car” you can’t go back when it comes to immersion

Come on man. I play iracing too, but the way the tires give out in unsavable slides. The way abs makes braking worse. It makes no sense half the time.
