This guy has made some great tracks over the years. He describes his set up that he is using nowl. Read the comments about complaining about how he hasn't taught about music. Just fuckoff. You don't understand what music is. This guy is showing his setup. It is up to you to make the music

He's made some very nice tracks over the years. Stuff he did in the early 90s I like best. No doubt his kit then was nothing compared to now... yet hr made some fantastic records.

Wow. I give this guy respect, he knows his electronics. Just seems like such a massive process to get to basic sounds. I've been in this business for years, but i feel like a novice watching him. I make music with cubase, play guitar, and use mainly software synths and one korg m3. Not much hard line patching. Maybe I'm missing out, I'm sure this guy is brilliant. trey

Hey Kirk you can streamline your whole process if you invest in an analog summing mixer and good converters and mix in ableton. It will sound much better then ITB ableton mixes and just as good as logic. It will also give you easy access to inserting outboard dynamics as well. high end bus compressor etc. Its not a cheap route but it will improve your workflow having to use mulitple DAWs. Cheers. I like the way you setup your modular into three seperate tasks. Cool way to think about it.

i love the way he made his kick drum simple yet very unique. there are soo many samples out there and layering kicks w/ an effect or EQ can really change the sound dramatically!!

each daw has its own playback engine which produces a different quality of sound for eg. the older versions of say fl studio sounds horrible, but if u export that same beat to say pro tools u will hear a noticeable difference.

There's no difference if you just play back a dry sample for example . But you have difference in the rootings ( for example you have a little latency if you root/ send tracks to auxes in ableton which is really annoying for me) and you have difference in the quality in the effects/plugins ). That's all i know.

Bizarre. Clearly the guy has a lot of technical knowledge, and some very expensive hardware/software but the music seems almost irrelevant to the process.

It's almost like he is making music out of the sound machines make. What a crazy concept. They should call it "techno" or something.

I too feel really inferior to guys like this. It's not that I don't understand any of it (cuz some of what he was talking about was basic synthesis) but building kit synths is way beyond anything I've learned over the years. (Didn't get on with Reaktor for precisely this reason). The only thing I will dis him a bit on is, if all his tunes are in the same vain as the one played in this vid, then .... they're a tad forgettable. My brain leans more towards hooks.
