Kirklees Light Railway 'Estate Railways' Steam & Diesel Gala 15/09/2019

A trip that's been almost 9 years too long - a return to the Kirklees Light Railway for their annual Steam & Diesel Gala during the weekend 14th - 15th September 2019.
The theme for this year's event was 'Estate Railways' and featured five visiting locomotives joining the line's home fleet on intensive timetable of two main passenger & shuttle train services as well the gala cavalcade.
The locomotives in use at the gala were...
"River Irt" (currently celebrating her 125th year visiting from the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway)
"Katie" (visiting from the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway)
"Katie" (visiting from the Eaton Hall Railway)
'Cagney' No.44 (visiting from the Rhyl Miniature Railway)
"Count Louis"
And the home fleet of home fleet were...
Kirklees Light Railway 6-4-0ST "Badger"
Kirklees Light Railway 0-4-0+0-4-0T "Hawk"
Kirklees Light Railway 0-4-0+0-4-0TG "Owl"
Kirklees Light Railway 0-4-0DH "Jay"(not feature in this video)
ex-Fairbourne Railway 2-4-2s "Sian" & "Katie"

Went on River Irt "Bert" in Thomas at Ravenglass & Eskdale in August 2017.

I've heard of double-headers and triple-headers, but never a NONUPLE-HEADER! That, I did not see coming.

Very nice video! I was up the Kirklees at Easter and it’s a lovely little railway with some great locos, and some good visiting engines

Great video! Nice to see Cagney 44 out there, she's a brilliant little loco! Looks like a superb lineup and a fun one to film I bet. :)

Thanks mate 😉 Yes she is a lovely locomotive in action and great to have in a huge back garden. The line up for their steam gala was impressive and I like the R&ER loco River Irt that was visiting as well the two 0-4-0 tank engines in action.

Thanks Bob 😉 Well the weather was a little drizzle during the afternoon of my visit, but at least I enjoyed the day out at Kirkless.

Great stuff mate. Going to say it again you certainly get around South Wales and Yorkshire in the same weekend. I had hoped to get to this one but work got in the way.

Thanks mate 😉 I do really go around the country to see different railways in different gauges. I might be doing a narrow gauge railway up near Stoke-on-Trent this weekend or go to another 15 inch railway next to the Forest of Dean, but I want to go to the Severn Valley Railway for this weekend steam gala, which one of these should I go to?

@@joelightrailway2362 I'm guessing the narrow gauge is amerton and the 15 inch is perrygrove. The Severn valley is looking like a excellent gala with the line up. I always prefer to see different places so I would say either narrow gauge or 15 inch.
