We cuddled with HERDWICK SHEEP IN THE LAKE DISTRICT// As promised today is the day where we share with you something very special: We went to Yew Tree Farm in Coniston in the Lake District, a farm Beatrix Potter bought in 1930 and that is now home to Jo and Jon and their 1000 sheep. It was also used as Hill Top Farm in the film 'Miss Potter' with Renée Zellwegger. We booked a Herdwick experience to learn about farming and the Herdwick sheep that are local to the Lake District. What an amazing day!
Beatrix Potter wasn't only a children's author but also a conservationist and committed to the conservation of Herdwick sheep. Herdwicks grow very slowly and by purchasing products directly from the farmers, you are supporting sustainable fell-farming and protect the Herdwick sheep and this amazing landscape.

Having married a wonderful man from Manchester, but living in Houston, Texas, USA, I cannot think of a place I miss more than the Lake District. I associate it with magical landscape, wonderful and warm people, and of course my beloved Herdwick sheep. As a knitter, their wool is certainly not the softest, but provenance matters, and I love that those gentle sheep produce such beautiful and warm wool. Thank you for sharing the Lake District with us.

Pure Joy! That’s what I felt watching this video. Kirsten, the shepherdess, I could feel your excitement when you had the opportunity to interact with your favorite animal. These sheep have been treated with kindness and love since they were babies-most farm animals are not. That is why they are so calm around people. Animals are full of love and kindness when they feel safe. God bless these sweet ones.

What sweet-faced sheep. They are so cuddly. Such a beautiful area to visit. Susan Wittig Albert wrote a series of mysteries featuring Beatrix Potter in her Hill Top Farm era. They can be a bit slow in places, but are overall a nice read. Thank you for this lovely video. Take care and God bless.

This was so nostalgic for me to watch... We used to go to the lakes regularly for holidays as a young girl.... with my parents and sister we did all the things you did.... It brought a tear to my eye as my father loved it so much... sadly he passed away a few years ago.. I felt he was watching this with me... Thank you for bringing back memories, that gave me the best childhood anyone could ever have... with a FATHER WHO LOVED US SO MUCH.... My husband came out less than a half an hour ago from his office and said, "Is there a new video from Kirsten and Joerg?" He's gotten so funny, always remembering on Tuesdays! I was in the middle of something else but I said I would check... "yes, she posted 52 seconds ago!" LOL.... so of course he wanted to sit down right then and watch it. :) Oh, it was wonderful! I would sooo love to go there and commune with those beautiful sheep! I also love that peaceful lake and the autumnal scenery around it. It's so hard to wait for autumn here in California, which has not yet arrived (and a bit subtle even when it gets here). Once again, though, we were mystified why no masks were worn around your "sheep guide." I guess things are really under control in the UK? We are in such a terrible place here in the US because of those who refuse to wear masks, it makes me nervous whenever I see it. xo

Awww haahh thank you so much! No, we have a spike in Covid cases here as well but we were always at a safe distance from Jo and were only outside with her so there was absolutely nothing to worry about. We wear masks inside at all times and have no contact with people. We definitely don't belong to those people who refuse to wear masks, you can be sure of that.

I loved this, thank you Kirsten and Joerg. I visited the Lake District a few years ago and we had a lovely walk around Tarn Hows (in the sunshine!) My Mum used a mobility scooter provided free of charge by the national trust which made the walk fully accessible for her to enjoy too. She told me that her and my lovely Dad had walked around there when she was heavily pregnant with me which means its now has a special place in my heart.

Beatrix Potter; The best inspiration for all things Storybook Illustration, Garden and Sheepkeeping. I named my first sheep after her, but mine were never as adorable as those affectionate and loving Herdwicks! I think they wanted to go home with you. What a precious afternoon in the Lake District,: I've not visited yet, but I did a long video all about Miss Potter a few months back because I love so much about her work and life.

Probably one of my favorite videos of yours- and I’ve watched every single one! Beautiful countryside and I absolutely loved watching the sheep. You looked so happy, Kirsten, and I laughed along with you as those cute sheep snuggled with you. Sheep are one of my favorite animals. Watching them literally RUN up to the tour guide as she greeted and fed them was so sweet to see. I’m watching this in August 20 21 and it was so perfect. So calm, so peaceful, and brought such a smile with the dogs and sheep. The music was so great too. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this.

I am certain that this is the most beautiful countryside I’ve ever seen. I would give anything to see it in person. 💕 The scenes at the end remind me of the dark ages, King Arthur and his Knights. Thank you for your videos.

My sister sent me the link to your vlog as I am so busy with life, but as soon as I could watch it, my blood pressure went down and I immeditaly felt a sense of calm .The scenery at the Lakes at this time of year looks stunning! Kirsten, it was like that sheep was your long lost boyfriend, he was looking at you with such love in his being. What a beautiful adventure and thank you for showing us that there is so much joy to be experienced in life and that we don't have to venture far to find it. Thank you! As mentioned in the video Beatrix Potter's home is actually Hill Top Farm but the house is closed due to Covid so we decided to visit Yew Tree that she once owned.

I always feel tyhat when an animal blesses you with it's time and presence, it's because it can read your soul and trusts you. You were blessed by the sheep and happiness was gift.

Beatrice Potter was a wonderful woman. From the articles I have read she had a beautiful outlook on life. I can just see her walking on the land with her bonnet on. The sheep are amazing, aren't they? They are one of my favorite animals. Kirsten...You could see the enjoyment filling your body. I envy the person that gets to enjoy that land and take care of the sheep. Now I want t go there. Please return when they open the house. I absolutely loved this video. Thank you for taking me along with you!

These videos from the Lake District are absolutely AMAZING Thank you a thousand times over for taking us along on your weekend. My husband and I retired to central Florida, USA but many years ago had a 75 acres of land in Wisconsin and actually raised sheep. They are wonderful animals. We had twins that needed to be bottle fed as their mother rejected them and they would run up to us and cry to be petted! This brought back those wonderul memories as well as enjoying the amazing scenery! Wonderful camera work and gave a great scense of peace. Thank you again!

I'm sure I would have loved it there at the farm too. All the animales chicken and cats and dogs. And the sheeps are awesome, so cute. This tiny ears. The landscape you showed at the end looked like Bob Ross paintings, a bit unreal. A land for fairies. Thank you both for taking me there whith you.

Loved the sheep, they're so sweet! We visited the Lake District 12 years ago and visited Hilltop Farm, it was like going back in time. Really loved seeing the actual location of where she painted her book illustrations. Such beautiful country!
