Hard to find a live version cos of her stage fright. This is absolutely wonderful, what a voice, what a songwriting talent!

22 years since she passed away trying to save her son.

Yes, she certainly did, while tragically having been killed by a powerboat, and the powerboat was apparently *not* supposed to enter that area with which to begin. She and her sons were reportedly diving at the time. I can't imagine the sorrow and guilt that her beloved son must feel, even though it's *not* his fault in the least. May the very talented and beautiful British singer and songwriter, Ms. MacColl, R.I.P., and her friends and family keep trying to find solace and comfort here on Earth.

@@Lisa-kq4qi No, it wasn't his fault at all. His mother was protecting him and she paid a terrible for doing so.

What is she talking about? She didn't write this. This is a hit from Tracey Ullman from the 80s. Who does she think she's fooling?

I remember reading somewhere that when Kirsty's original single came out there was some fuck up in the marketing department and it wasn't a hit. It was re-recorded with Tracy Ullman (who I also love) a few years later with Kirsty's backing vocals and 'Baby' and it was a bit hit, netting Kirsty quite a bit in royalties - everyone was happy. It's a perfect song. I know the chords - huge fun to play and always goes down well. I was a busker when I was younger and wish I knew it back then - it would have been an earner.

@@scottishbluesman If Tracey stole her song then why didn't Kirsty sue her?
@sylly654 Жыл бұрын
Tracey didn’t steal it, she covered it. Kirsty even contributed to the vocals. The timing sucked when Kirsty first released it, but Tracey’s cover was able to get the song the exposure it deserved.
