I have an almost identical knife and I love using it for all kinds of stuff. The only difference is that it's not of that brand and the front part has the rest of the knife's colour.😆

I love seeing the different ways you can gain the results you’re looking for. My question to you, is do you prefer this method for getting our light whispy hairs instead of using the Brush and Pencil products? I’m sure there are reasons for each. I’m curious what yours are. if you look in specialist airbrushing supply shops you will find paper that can be scratched. I used to use illustration paper back in the day that you could use rapidographs on and any slight mistake with the pen or even a big ink blot could be totally scraped off with no effect to the paper at all. You could also work on clayboard to do the same thing.

I used to do this with a hairpin lol. I would bite off the little balls at the end of it and it will expose the sharp metal. Needles, small knives and scissors do the trick too.

An alternative to this would be a toothpick or safety pin, I think safety pin would be better because it had a thinner top. Be careful though they're sharp!

Kirsty, is there anything specific about an x-acto knife as opposed to a simple surgical scalpel knife blade? Or any other craft knife that looks the same? I assume x-acto is just one branded tool that's out there on the market?
