Edit: 25:59 Taro said given name not birth name Serious question: Is it the same with other cultures that when you said "Thank you" to end a conversation, it actually mean a polite "No", short for "Thank you for your input but I'm not interested nor do I want to keep on with this conversation." Or is it just Taiwan? Example 33:53 34:12

I've not encountered that in north/west Europe at least, not even in the UK where people tend to be very polite.
