K Ishibashi is a master of building his music from the ground up, from live violin loops to layered singing to beatboxing, in order to create pocket symphonies steeped in classical music and 21st-century pop. He brings that ingenuity and songcraft to the Tiny Desk at the NPR Music offices.
Set List:
"Improvisation / Atticus, In The Desert"
"Bright Whites"
"I Am The Antichrist To You"

Bryce Harper i LOVED seeing guster, i think both acts were phenomenal. kishi bashi's performance was way way different though and you don't really see shows like his very often, so i see why you thought his was better. personally i think they were both really good, just really different.

This. This exact video is what inspired me to start my career. I was so miserable and so lost, and Kaoru was the musician that I found that guided me where I needed to go. I've met him a handful of times, made art for him, and I have all of his albums signed by him on vinyl. This man is unreal; his mind is one of the most beautiful and brilliant things that I have ever been able to see personally. I found more complex thoughts just by listening to his music and it broadened my entire understanding on what I view life as. I truly hope others have found their way in life. If anything, thank you Kaoru Ishibashi. You helped me find happiness.

THANK YOU Kishi Bashi and NPR!!! I had forsaken my violin for my cellocaster, but seeing all that you do with just your voice, your violin and loops and effects, I am once again energized and inspired to keep on going. I had hit a creative wall, but I heard your song on the Feel Good Indie Music list on Spotify, and I heard the violin in it, so I checked out the video, which led me here. I look forward to meeting you somewhere down the road a bit. Hope you will come to Milwaukee sometime- lots of Suzuki kids here who would love to see you do your thing. I grew up studying with Joan Rooney, who is in her 80's now, but I'm sure she would love your music, as well. Good on ya my new long lost friend!

I can't believe the dimensions of his creativity. With all of the layers, he's got to keep so much sorted out during his performance to do what does... a very heavy cognitive load. And then he adds creativity to it. Not only is he an incredible musician, he must be simply brilliant. I don't want to go for hyperbole, but this is must of what it felt like to be in the presence of Mozart.

My deepest regret is I just found about him today. I was literally in tears listening to one of his songs, "In Fantasia".

I started learning violin last week at my college n love it so much. This young man is inspiring to me to keep going n tackling my weekly class without giving up. Wish I could meet him someday n have him be my violin teach :-)

My brother is on tour with Kishi Bashi right now!!! I admit, I hadn't listened to any of his music before, but I went to see them and WOW! Blew me away! Must see!

Going to see him next month and I'm beyond excited! My friend showed me this video and I knew I had to see him in concert.
