Everybody in 1979 was going disco at this time! KISS needed a chart hit and turned to hitmaker Desmond Child to craft an arena-rock song with that trendy disco vibe. It worked! The single went to #11 in the US and #1 in many markets around the world.

Sure, but that wasn't until 1980. In 1979 no one could predict the future. Everyone thought that Disco would last forever.

Yeah, this was the one that got a lot of OG KISS fans upset, because back then if you were a "Rocker" you weren't supposed to like or have anything to do with Disco. Those were two separate camps. I'm sure guitarist Ace Frehley wasn't thrilled about doing it, but Gene & Paul Stanley saw those dollar signs $$...as always. :) And Ace was still a good enough sport to lay down a little solo on it.

Released in 1979, many of Kiss's hard core fans didn't like the song. Wasn't the band's typical sound. This was their "contribution" to the Disco era. Have a safe, blessed Christmas, and a prosperous New Year...🎸🎵🎄🎉

This is one of their most popular songs, ever. It wasn't well received when it first came out by the hardcore fans. But mainstream people loved it. They still are playing their final tour in the middle of Covid. You should listen to Shandi as well. Its another smooth song from this time period. But KISS is known for songs like Shout it out loud, which is a good rock party song.

This was 1979 KISS just capitalized on the sound at the time with this song. But it drove their hardcore fan base away even though it did bring some new fans to the band. They're popularity would drop off in the following years they made a comeback album 1983 called creatures of the night you should watch the video I love it loud from that album you can really hear the difference in the sound as they tried to get back to their Hard Rock roots. Great album and song but people just weren't buying them and makeup anymore so a year later they took the makeup off. And kept it off until 1996 the reunion tour.

Kiss began as a hard rock band in 1973, but they wanted to have an explosive stage show where the band played 4 characters on stage. They heard Led Zeppelin and saw Alice Cooper in the early 1970's, and wanted that combo... Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons wrote most of the songs from pop rock & R&B influences in the 1960's. The original band featured Peter Criss (drums) & Ace Frehley (lead guitar) Their first 3 records were not big sellers at the time cos they didn't sound like what they were live in concert, but they had a minor hit in 1975 - "Rock n' roll all nite" which was a party anthem. It was the release of a double live album 'Alive!' in 1975 that gave Kiss their first big record and "Rock n' roll all nite" (live version) became a massive hit. In 1976, Kiss released the 'Destroyer' album, and it delivered an unexpected hit - a piano ballad sung by drummer Peter Criss called 'Beth'... it became their biggest hit. By 1977, Kiss was the biggest band in America w/ 6 studio albums & 2 live albums. They began marketing their 4 makeup personalities to merchandise and brought in a pop fanbase in 1978. However, problems in the band led to a break in '78, as each member released a solo album which did well, but not what they expected. Drugs and alcohol were affecting Ace & Peter to the point where Peter Criss couldn't play the drums on Kiss records anymore, and Ace was being substituted by session guitarists in the studio. The 'Dynasty' album in 1979 took Kiss away from hard rock and into disco music... but "I was made for loving you" was a huge pop hit, so they released another disco record 'Unmasked' in 1980, but that sold less. Peter Criss didn't play on that record either & was replaced that year by drummer Eric Carr. Kiss tried to experiment w/ new orchestral and opera sounds on their 1981 album "Music from the Elder" and Kiss fans hated the record - it bombed in sales, and Ace Frehley left the band in 1982. Paul, Gene & Eric recorded 'Creatures of the night' in '82, which was a return to a heavy rock sound, using session guitarists in the studio... lead guitarist Vinnie Vincent did the tour, which was a disaster in America as the record bombed in sales again. The non-makeup Kiss era came in 1983 w/ the 'Lick it up' album - Paul, Gene, Eric & Vinnie were the band in makeup, but they decided to take off the makeup and perform without their past image. It worked - MTV put 'Lick it up' on the air and the album went platinum, selling 3 times more than the last album. They were a hard rock band, but w/ glam and pop rock influences. Vinnie Vincent was fired in '84, and lead guitarist Mark St. John did the 'Animalize' album in 1984, but he was replaced by lead guitarist Bruce Kulick on tour after St. John developed health problems. Kiss was an 80's glam rock band w/ Paul, Gene, Bruce & Eric thru the 80's as the hit records kept coming - 'Asylum' in 1985, 'Crazy Nights' in 1987, and 'Hot in the shade' in 1989. In 1991, drummer Eric Carr was diagnosed w/ cancer and despite his treatment, he passed away from the disease in late '91. After Eric Carr's death, Kiss returned in 1992 w/ a darker album 'Revenge' w/ drummer Eric Singer, but the non-makeup Kiss was declining in the grunge rock 90's. An MTV 'Unplugged' show was done in 1995 and they had original members Peter Criss & Ace Frehley come on & play... So they decided in 1996 to put the makeup back on, and it would be the original Kiss w/ Ace & Peter for a reunion tour in '96/ '97 which was a huge success. The Kiss album 'Psycho circus' in 1998 was supposed to be a reunion album, but Peter & Ace barely played on it. Paul & Gene decided for the original Kiss to do a 'farewell' tour in 2000/'01... but Peter Criss left again in late '01, and Ace Frehley left in '02. Peter Criss returned briefly in 2003, w/ lead guitarist Tommy Thayer taking over Ace Frehley's role & makeup persona in Kiss. Eric Singer returned on drums full-time in 2004, wearing Peter Criss' makeup. This Kiss line-up released 2 albums - 'Sonic boom' in 2009 and 'Monster' in 2012. Kiss is currently on their 'End of the road' tour, which they say will be their last major tour.

It's strange that this 1979 Kiss album 'Dynasty' is not the best Kiss record, but Kiss fans still wanna jam to "I was made for loving you" even today! Paul Stanley of Kiss said he wrote the song after partying in Studio 54 nightclub at the height of disco... it became a huge international hit single, but it kinda alienated Kiss' hardcore fanbase at the time, cos Kiss was a hard rock band first, but they were raised on 60's rock n' roll and R&B music. Gene Simmons said that Kiss wasn't Black Sabbath, all gloom & doom... they wanted to be a show w/ great music to party to.

Gene and Paul were the alphas in the group always. Their main motivation was pretty much money and ego returns. No depth here sorry. Good act but they were targeting the teenage girl and guy demographic. It worked. Massively successful departure from their normal style. Dynasty was their best album IMO. Pretty cool stuff and yes the video was flawless. Good review once again guys. 👍

If you're being blocked by the KZfaq police? Just being blocked what about the 72 hours three days the block goes away. if it doesn't you can dispute it under the fair use clause of the copyright law! Under the fair use clause of the copyright law you can post reactions too anything on KZfaq for purposes of information education critique criticism there's two or three other stipulations. But of course you can't pull stuff on KZfaq that's copyrighted by somebody for a purpose of making money off of it. And now You Tube changed their policies I used to find reaction channels all over the place doing reactions I'm getting corporate sponsors where they were advertising for the corporations products and giving discount codes for when you bought something from that company and of course they got a kick back in a monetary amount which means they were actually making money on someone's copyrighted material. And of course the same youtubers or doing reactions and peddling their own merchandise T shirts hats hoodies they were selling them on their channel before and after they reacted to a video. But you don't see anybody selling their own merchandise on their channels anymore has to be because of a new KZfaq policy. No more sponsorships from corporations were they peddle the corporation's product. Now the KZfaq reactors openly admit but they were doing this video or that video because it was being sponsored by their Patreon subscriber but paid them they call it a donation donated tour$100 a $100 fifty dollars for them to watch a video.

The second graphic you had is the band that did this song but from an earlier era. You really need to explore the back catalogue of this awesome band.
