What i think the song means(just my opinion and thoughts): the song i feel is based on entering adulthood, completely growing up and leaving the nest to the next chapter of life. The lyrics talk about them having to leave childhood fantasies dreams, and memories behind them in order to move on. giving them mixed feelings, on the one hand, they're invigorated that they finally have freedom and have long awaited this time where they, would be responsible for their own lives. They're tired of living in a fantasy and more than know they want to leave, maybe never come back. yet, something still worries them, moreover pains them. Their future, what if they end up dreading the adult life, like they did as a kid back then, dreaming of the future as either a fairytale world or nightmare the more they tink of it; only it's no longer a dream now, the fear should be past them by now. They're prepared for a lonely life full of hardships. still, who knows what'll happen. then there's the sweet childhood home, life, people that they have to leave behind, maybe forget. they don't regret anything from it, probably even tired of it all, being babied, even as a teenager. They really have nothing to miss from it, About to leave with only a single ticket, no return. but even as they step onto that train to adulthood, a tear stings their left eye, they can't quite figure out why exactly. neverless they don't dare look back, keep their chin up and looking straight ahead, as the train departs them from their quaint childhood.
