Mark from a distance it does resemble a sea horse, but when you gave us that close up as your were moving the camera down it reminded of me of fresh sea water flowing threw lava after it had cooled some, bringing life back to a land that was burnt. The gold being the last bit of hot lava, this is marvelous no matter what anyone sees it as. I guess that is how art is. I want to thankyou for reminding me art is to be fun, relaxing and a tool to help us unwind. You are quite a artist and should be very proud of this creation. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your time and talent with us.

Oh my god… the struggle is real!!! I have a very finite amount of workspace as well, and I’m very limited in how large a canvas I can work on. 30in is my maximum width. I have no room to tilt either. But, you do such a good job illustrating that, while difficult, working with larger canvases in smaller spaces might be difficult, but not impossible. Beautifully done. 🐻

Glad I subscribed as your work is incredible!! Beautiful outcome!! Have you thought about getting the world's smallest blower and attachments from Tracie Reed? That tool to me is so wonderful for dutch pours to help bring out so much more detail. Thank you for sharing!!

Mark, I really like this piece. It seemed like the black base was swallowing up the colors as you blew them out. I have had that problem before so I switched my black to Amsterdam Oxide Black from Artist'sLoft ready flow black. I adore the colors you chose, the blues and gold are gorgeous together. Beautiful painting.

Hey Mark, it really looks very much like a sea horse, but I also see all types of faces everywhere. The colours look "cool and fresh", but are not cold because you used some gold. It's like fresh running water in the sun. The details are stunning. I even saw a small black heart. It's a very beautiful piece and I can imagine that such a big canvas is quite a challenge. Good job 🖒💖

Stunningly beautiful, I'm just about to dip my toe into the world of acrylic pouring so am a little nervous on mixing ratios but this is a great inspiration. I bought a bunch of Amsterdam acrylic paints so I take it they are a good brand if you are using them 👍

Thanks so much Paul. Yes Amsterdam are great paints and have a great binder so can be watered down without breaking up. Aim for initially one part paint to 0.75 part water and then you can always add a bit more water if you’re doing a more fluid technique like Dutch Pour. Have fun and I hope you enjoy it. Huge warning though…. It gets very addictive haha

@@MarkJRatcliffeArt Thank you for that advice, I also bought some Amsterdam acrylic pouring medium, add that to the paint and water too?
@MarkJRatcliffeArt
@MarkJRatcliffeArt Жыл бұрын
@@Flashpg so pouring medium is a liquid you add to your paint to allow it to flow and become more fluid. People use a range of medium and also make their own. I did do a video on how you can make your own when starting out to help get a feel for techniques. People have various ratios but if you use pouring medium I’d start with 1 part paint to 3 parts pouring medium (some people go to 4 parts). Water can be added to make it very fluid (but don’t over water as you’ll break the binders in your paint and it will break up and split).
