I recall when his first book came out, one of the biggest criticisms against it was that he whined too much about that. Honestly, having once myself been the one person in a band who's trying to hold it all together... Paul's book was pretty gracious about the whole thing.

Paul Stanley never gets the respect he deserves when it comes the great frontmen in rock. Everyone is always all about Freddie Mercury, DLR, Robert Plant, etc. But this man is doing what he, so obviously, was born to do. Few others have the charisma and energy he shows on stage.

Maybe because Kiss is a pure mainstream rock band. Other artists and professionals notice that. They have good songs, classics and some hits - "I was born for loving you" here in Germany and elsewhere in Europe at least 1-2 a week on the radio (royalties). But they lived mainly from the stage show and the fireworks. These days, they would not be nearly as successful. At that time it was something new and unique. In addition, Chaim Simmons has managed to turn it into a brand. I think Gene Simmons was all about money and women and Stanley about money and artistic development but not at any price. The only one who was really rock star was Ace Frehley

I was a huge Kiss fan. If you remember at that time, MTV would air full concerts on Friday nights. I had patiently waited all week to stay up late on Friday night to watch it. I was 13 years old and during the 2nd song, my mom passed through the room and heard Paul Stanley say the word "damn". She made me turn it off. Considering the language in songs now, it sure shows the difference 30 years make. Nobody would even blink about someone saying "damn" now.

80's Kiss is painfully underrated! Paul had one of the best voices in rock history and songs like Heaven's On Fire are straight up 80's masterpieces. Many bands go their entire careers without recording a classic anthem like this!

he always looked very comfortable without makeup while Gene always seemed to "hiding"- behind his bass, standing next to another or by sticking his tongue out--always trying to be distracting from his actual appearance.. Just all IMO though...

It's a little surreal going back and listening to this music because I know these voices; they're a theatrical group of guys, they appear in sketches about themselves and voice themselves in cartoons, and then it's like, "oh, yeah, they sing." What a range! At first you think KISS is just adapting for the hair metal era, but then you remember they're one of its progenitors.

@@Hayleypeck-zz2df Eric Carr died of heart cancer, in the same day and year as Freddie Mercury (24 November 1991), a few months after an open-heart surgery. He was only 40 years old. Eric Singer replaced him, and he's also the current KISS drummer. Mark St. John died on April 5 2007 of brain hemmorhage, at the age of 51 years old. He left KISS in 1984, and he was replaced by Bruce Kullick. Both Eric and Mark were good, espicially Eric Carr, my all time favourite drummer!

He married twice , has 4 kids and lives happily with his wife 15+ years, just because he had his own way of dancing and hand movements doesn't make him gay. Not all males are masculine and manly. Even tho he looks pretty good and has a nice face for 80's life style. Things were different back then ,people were different. So he doesnt have to admmit anything, he already said that he is not gay many times. Just because you see his performance less manly doesnt mean he is gay. This is a really good example of less is more. The guitar is basically just two chords. The drums are a simple 4/4 beat. The bass is pretty normal bass playing, nothing out of the ordinary. You get the idea. But despite the simplicity, it’s great.
