With three votes, this has been the winner of my kit-building free contests; a wonderful kit which, however, has given me so many problems, so I´m afraid that in the end I´m not totally happy with the final result.
2nd place in the contest, with 2 votes, has been for another Italeri 1/72 kit, yet way bigger and more modern: Lockheed C-130E/H Hercules.

The Spanish air museum also owned a Do-24... or at least I think that they still own it. It has always been on display outdoors, but since weather and weather change makes no good to no machine in the long run, it suffered from its consequences and looked so sadly worn out. Last time I paid a visit to the museum I couldn´t find it. I guess they´re restoring it in a hangar, beside some other aircraft. It seems that currently, there is only one flyable Do-24, powered by turbines.

Beautiful... I have the Revell kit of this plane (not sure if it may even be the same kit?) but will build mine as the Swedish Tp 24, I think.. I have a sheet of after market decals for it.. somewhere! :) You did a great job of that model, it looks great, in spite of the trouble.. :) Sweden flew the Heinkel He-115 as well, by the way.. :)

Agreed. As I see it, Italeri kits are excellent save for certain errors on the building instructions, at least with older kits. I have some Italeri kits built too, mostly in 1/72nd scale (Hudson Mk.X, Spitfire Mk.IX, He-111H-6, Ju-87B-2, Ju-88A-4, B-26K Counter-Invader, C-130E, SR-71A, Su-27D, F-22A, BAe Sea Hawk, Sea Harrier FRS.Mk.I, RF-5A, Mig-29A, F/A-18B and TB-58A Hustler), plus Curtiss P-40M, A-4F and F-16A in 1/48th. I have yet more Italeri kits to build, though.

Gracias.

Thank you very much, but after having had a look at some images in Google, now I´m unsure on whether wings should rather be straight or with not so much dihedral- it´s too late to change it now, anyway.

Yes: wingspan on these boats was 27metres, 5 metres wider than the He115. If you get the chance, go to the museum in Soesterberg (Netherlands) - you can see the real thing there :-)

@AlanMartinNala Well, I AM Swedish, after all.. and have been in the Swedish Air Force.. so an interest in Swedish aircraft comes natural to me.. :) The German version probably would be more interesting, but the Swedes only had ONE Dornier Do-24, and the story behind it is quite interesting too.. :) So that will be my choice.. :)

@chancerNW At first, I thought of painting it with Spanish markings (silver above and sky blue below), but I needed different turrets for that, which I don´t have. Thank you.

@BasicModelling If I chose the Sweddish version, naturally I wouldn´t have had so many problems with the cammo pattern, since it was overall dark green, But I found the German ones more attractive after all. It seems to me that you like Sweddish aircraft, right? :) I think that another user of the He-115 was Finland, which was the other painting option of the Matchbox kit.

You did the wings correctly; the originals have a pronounced dihedral.

I recently purchased the newer version of this from Italeri and it has raised panel lines. I noticed that you choose not to rescribe? This is a task I find most daunting and was curious as to your decision not to rescribe the raised lines of this partiuclar model. I would love to avoid it if at all possible. Thanks.

I am not sure how old your model is, I have just completed the latest Italeri version, and it seems to be completely, retooled with a far more detailed cockpit , a photo etched set, and engraved panel lines.
