Kit/Gear Storage. How I store my Camping, Bushcraft, Cooking and Canoe Gear at Home.

You asked for it ,so here it is!
In this video, I will be showing you around my kit room where I store all my camping, bushcraft, cooking and canoeing gear. As we all know only too well, storing our gear between trips can present us with a bit of a challenge - how to store things correctly, where is best to keep it and what in, are there any special preparations we need to do before storing certain items etc, etc.
I am lucky to have a room dedicated to drying and storing gear, but I appreciate not everybody does - hopefully though, this video might give you some tips for your own storage arrangements and too make sure that kit is ready to use the next time you need it.
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

The most important thing about this video is my wife doesn't think that I have too much stuff now after seeing all your goodies, the bad part is she asked me why I can't keep my stuff put away like that 😜

Jeez, it’s quite a large collection and this kit is bloody expensive nowadays. Makes it a bit daunting to get out there. I’m just procrastinating over a lightweight chair. And I need two of everything as I go with my son. Thanks to Simon’s overnight canoe trip off Hickling broad I spotted him using a Kamui chair which I think if Simon,s using it , it must be good. My biggest problem here in Norfolk is where to wildcamp. I’d so like to get permission but where do you start ?

HA, HA! I LOVE THIS! My wife has often complained about how much outdoor, camping, bushcraft, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and mountain biking kit I have. Then I showed her this video. What I own would fit in a quarter of your kit room. You've made me look positively spartan! Cheers.

Simon, love the videos. For the mouse problems, you can try a few drops of peppermint oil on a cotton ball. Mice hate the smell of peppermint, it might keep them out of your kit. Just leave a few of those peppermint cotton balls around your building. It should help with the mice, but might make your equipment a little aromatic.

Enjoyed watching, Simon. The closer I get to retirement, the more gear I'm accumulating in readiness for some wild camping, so this video was really well-timed. At the moment, the gear is strewn all over the place in 2 bedrooms, much to my wife's annoyance! Have to say, your shed is a lot better stocked that some of the shops I've been into.

Looked high and low for a foot locker style trunk to store my daughter's dress up clothes. kzfaq.infoUgkxRkkpE1_3gMEZ2mPhAt6b2moNCUXyH8tG I had one growing up that I stored my Barbies in and wanted something sturdy like that for her costumes. This arrived really, really quickly and is exactly what I've been looking for. Perfect size, color (pink) and has stood up for nearly a year so far against my kids using it as a chair, stage, and barricade (😬) to keep each other out of their rooms. I'm probably going to order another one for my daughter's Barbies.

Over the years I stored all kind of outdoor equipment I bought for different occasions. Well… let’s say it that way… it was a little more than she expected it to be 😏 Showing her this video saved me from a lot of discussion’s 😉😉😉

Simon, there’s an easy solution to the mice problem. They make a lid trap that fits on any 5 gallon bucket. You simply put some peanut butter on the lid and mice walk up the ramp and walk out on the lid to eat the bait and they fall into the bucket alive. You can deal with them however you want after that.

I'm grateful for your going through all this kit over the years, as it's helped me find my essential kit list, without having to aquire as much. What first attracted me to your channel years ago were your videos where you packed everything you needed in a single German rucksack or hip pack. I have one of my own now and can set it up for a day hike kitchen and meal, water for 4, tarp, seat, etc. And with quick tuning can adjust it for a smaller trip, or hammock overnight. But to zero in on the essential kit, I've had to aquire a little more to find exactly the kit I like the best, but nowhere near as much as would have been needed without your videos.

Envy level is off the scale here! I've got my stuff strung between my apartment, an RV (caravan to you), and one large self-storage unit and one smaller one. Trying to get it all consolidated into two spaces so that all my backpacking stuff is in my apartment, right to hand, and all the camping stuff will be either in the back of my truck, or in a mid-sized storage unit. Thanks for giving us a tour Simon!

I have all my kid in a shipping container and I think I should build a gear room in the garden but having a rented property is a high risk for building a shed of this scale 😂. Being a builder it’ll never be built like a shed. More like a house in my garden 🫣. The scariest part is letting my partner see how much kit I have. Yes I’m on par with your kit list.
