Hi Abbie, great video, I am doing the walk in a couple of weeks, I plan to eat on the way so I am only taking a couple of evening meals as an emmergency ration pack. I have a mixture of camping and b&bs/hotel. I am carrying everything I need. My luxury items are a battery toothbrush and an inflaitable pillow. I as going to use my clothes in a dry bag as a pillow but wimped out. I have bought tooth paste tablets so I can measure out two weeks worth instead of taking a tube of toothpaste, It might be lighter. Anyway enjoy and keep up the good work.

Just one point about flipping the batteries around in the headtorch to stop it accidentally turning on. Be careful - as some headtorches, especially ones with 18650 rechargeable cells have the batteries connected in parallel. If you flipped one of those around they would short each other out with spectacular results - including fire! The easy way to tell is to remove one battery - if the torch still works on the remaining battery DO NOT flip one of the batteries.

Maybe look at trails more local to you and head out for a few days? Ive got the Two Moors Way near me and have worked out how I can fit it in across two weeks without it interrupting work. Hope you can get out soon!

Did it about 10 years ago. Just about the best thing i’ve ever done. The Steadman guide eas good for shops etc you wont starve just plan ahead a bit. Go careful after Nine Standards it can get REALLY boggy but with recent weather should be OK. Just take your GoPro and leave big camera at home. Have a great time 👍

Nice vid Abbie. I used the same guide when planning my short walk from Keld to Reeth last year. I managed to loose the path for a short time in spite of it but miraculously found myself standing on it again. The Swale valley was great. Here in Arkansas where it can get incredibly hot I’ve found it useful to swap socks every couple of hours and let the damp ones dry on the outside of my pack. Body Glide is also good to put on your feet to help prevent blisters. Hope you had a good walk and thanks for sharing all the pics on FB.

Very useful video :-) I myself have walked some miles of - and will continue walking the South West Coastal Path in parts for a while. I have scanned the actual maps of Trailblazer, and printed them out in 13 by 18 cm size. Then I have laminated them two and two back to back, made a hole in the corner and keep the actual daily maps on a carabine hook. Good to go for any kind of weather, and probably lighter than the book. At least for our sections of this path :-)

Great video (as always). A few random thoughts: 1. I kept my wallet, loose change, tickets, etc., on my person...if I lost my bag or it was stolen, then at least I could still buy things and get home. 2. I did the C2C in September 2014 and used a Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo LE tarp tent that weighed about 30 ounces. It performed admirably. 3. Genuine Kinesio Tape is expensive but it sure as night follows days helped with foot maintenance and blister prevention. Put it where you normally get a blister or at the first sign of a hot spot. 4. I used 3 small gas canisters but I did the walk over 19 days. A spare adds weight but is oh so welcome when you run out of gas miles from the nearest supplier. 5. I didn't take a small gas stove as a spare but I will when I attempt the WHW in September. I got a BRS 3000T off Ebay for less than a tenner and if weighs just over an ounce. 6. I didn't register that you packed a knife of sorts. 7. What about a small repair kit (for your tent, your inflatable mattress, etc.)? 8. I always carry my waterproofs in one of the outside pockets of my bag. That way I can get at them quickly and without having to take off and open my bag should there be a sudden downpour. It appears from your reply to Kim Sijder that you are already back. I hope you enjoyed the trail and that you have many, many happy memories. I certainly do. Looking forward to your videos including a gear review / debrief.

Thanks for the comment. I always carry a knife on me - for this trail a little Opinel 7 (which I lost sadly - hey ho shopping time!). Always have ducktape somewhere in my kit for repairs but never needed (yet). Waterproofs I agree but we are having an intense hot spell at the moment so I packed them properly. Interesting about gas, thanks for that!

Great video as always. Just to follow up on what you said about blisters... I recommend you try Leukotape. I use it as a preventative, to tape over areas where i'm prone to blisters. It's amazing stuff and, trust me, it stays stuck on! I used it on the West Highland Way and Cumbria Way and it was great. No blisters! It comes in a thick roll but you can cut it into strips and stick it to label-backing paper which makes it (and any other tape) much easier to work with. Just wanted to pass on the tip. Best of luck for the walk. And thanks for making such good videos!

I'm currently prepping to do the C2C in September. I'll be wildcamping/campsite/b&b'ing so I'll only be taking 24 hours worth of food with me. I'll restock as I eat it along the way. I did the Great Glen Way last October - I packrafted the first bit up to Loch Ness & hiked the rest (sent the packraft home in the mail!). It's definitely worth getting the trail passport as it gives you access to showers/water etc at each of the Locks along the Canal and access to the chemical toilets (the cleanest I've ever seen/smelt!) at the designated wild camping spots. It's a fantastic trip!

Tip: re-pack the meals into FREEZER ziplock bags - you can still pour boiling water in them and then put them into your empty pot and eat right out of the bag. Saves weight on packaging (and then trash) and also doesn’t make a mess of your pot. Then maybe you only need one pot/cup rather than 3. Hope you enjoy your trip!
@AbbieBarnesWILD

Thanks Meg. I do use these for couscous and the like. I don't cook in my Jetboil only boil water and then the ration packs I make in the packet and use the bowl for breakfasts and cut for coffee etc. I could drink out of the bowl but seriously that cup is crazy light and slots in easy so works for me and save boiling water twice :)

Love the videos but if I can I’d like to make a well meant constructive comment on this list. in my opinion you are carrying way too much. We have a habit of packing in order to pander to our fears. Will I be warm enough, will I need spare trousers, gaiters etc, etc. No you don’t need any of those things. It’s red hot and will be for days to come. My advice is to reassess and would recommend reading Andrew Skurkas thoughts on the subject. If you go for it and really embrace the lightweight method you will not look back. Everything should have more than one use and be able to fight for its place in your pack. If it can’t do that it doesn’t deserve it’s spot in the pack. Still love your work but I feel your pain and know from experience how easy it is to injure yourself and happily it can so easily be avoided. Best of luck on the adventure though, it’s a great walk.

Thanks for the comment. I am very aware of the lightweight trend but it isn't for me. I enjoy carrying the weight and don't want to change all of my kit - it is perfectly functioning and would be a waste. I can't strip back my camera gear or the things I take other than as I mentioned in the video and description. Lightweight isn't for me as everything in my pack I used on this trip. Works for some but not everyone :) Thanks anyway!

What no Brexit survival kit? I usually pack a dozen tins of baked beans and extra ammo in case it all kicks off!

Way too much gear! for two hundred miles. 10 lb tent. Your crazy. Your poor back. You can half that weight check out North American backpacking sites.
