Good review and it does look like a decent bit of kit. The lack of a padded waist belt, as it's meant for carrying while wearing belt kit, is it's only downside for me. Something between this and that monstrous 150l bergen would be ideal. The main body 60-70, and be able to take issue side pockets, would be perfect. Getting too old to be humping huge amounts of gear with me these days and I'm starting to look at the ultralight mob with envious eye's, but I still want to be warm at night. 😂 A quick browse through the channel and easy decision to subscribe. We seem to have a very similar style and you guys do look like a fun bunch to camp with. Carry on lads.

Thanks for watchingand subscribing mate really appreciate that it's a well made pack with good material and fixings but definitely needs a few adjustments made I would prefer it too be slimmer and around 100 letters with a longer back with all the pouches going lightweight is a dream i can't even get a lightweight set-up when i hit the hill's in the summer months 🤣🤣 Myself and Roney are ex royal Artillery and like a good laugh and take the p#ss out of each other glad you like the channel atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

Great review Jimmy!! I've an old NI Pack that I use for work and was contemplating removing the side pouches, adding zips for Bergen Rocket Pockets. But after seeing your review I think I'll just have to spoil myself. Birthdays in March...just saying 😉 Anyway you can't grumble for that price!!! Love the idea of the top Commanders Pouch and the floating lid. I'll add a sternum strap as well. Just a shame it's not in DPM or OD.

Good morning just watched your video thank you really good. It’s making me go and definitely buy one now. The one thing is could you please give me the link or put what supplier you used for the sternum strap? I’m gonna need one of them I think. would you say that you could easily get a sleeping bag some clothes into the centre pocket? The middle compartment? It’s a lot smaller than I’m used to. I’m used to an actual British issued one but I don’t need that size. It’s too big now it’s just in case I go out for like a couple of days it’s more for clothing in the winter, I wanna make sure I can carry stuff if you know I mean definitely would like the sternum strap. Did you just order it and put it on yourself? Was it very easy to do that? I’m taking it. You just take the bottom straps off the webbing off the shoulder straps and then put the certain strap back together. Much appreciated, thank you. Grant

@@LundysWildcampBushcraft thank you very much for your reply. If it’s going onto a new model I doubt I get it for the same price. It’s only 90 quid at the moment. I’m definitely looking to get one now with carrying. Do you think you can get sleeping bag stuff like that in the main compartment with spare clothing how many days do you think you could get out of that pack? I’m torn between getting 100 L one I’m getting this one. I don’t know if I want the hundred litre one because I’m not I’m looking to maybe doing one night or maybe free night.out can you get a sleeping bag like all other things like that like a tent maybe into the main part of some clothing quite a bit i’m used to a standard British Army and I don’t know if I need that anymore but I don’t want to under bye thanks thanks any help will be great thank you. I only want to buy once I’m gonna be doing marathons in it. I’m gonna be going up onto the south Downs where I live. I’m gonna be climbing a mountain maybe in it with it getting outdoors, I can’t afford to the Big Brother version thanks anyway

Alright Jimmy. I'll just warn you upfront I'm about to bore the arse off ya marra, so there's no real reply necessary here lol. I've been looking for a smaller bag exactly like this and looking into buying it though it's out of stock in olive green right now. But I have a few nibbles that prevent me from buying it right now. I own lot of bags, the main ones being Sabre 60-100, A custom Jay Jays short back convoluted thats exactly like that Kitpimp only bigger (hence the interest in a smaller exact same one) and a few. NI packs. Ok to to the meat here now, (speaking purely from a civvie POV and not military). This is marketed as a 35 litre bag..... But it's not, it's 69 litres in total. 35 main body 12 litres in three pouches, a 10 litre basha pouch and 12 litres is sides, if my math serves me right. 69 litres!! And the didn't fit load lifters. What were they thinking? Well, I'd say not civilian for starters. Like you say, it's designed to sit on a webbing belt to take some of the load off for sure, and that's great if your a soldier. But a civvie fully loading that Bergen with a lot more weight than a squad did would that possess no load lifters is gonna pull like hell on your shoulders after a short while. An example of this is an Italian guy I just watched ( I was gonna type this on his channel (don't wish I did marra lol) called Heavy trekking & survival I believe. He was showing his and if you watch it you can see the pack fully loaded and it's dragging off his back because there's no load lifters to pull it it. Ya gotta see it, it looks so uncomfortable on him let alone hike in it for a day or so. Anyhoo, I got to thinking maybe that's a reason your shoulder strap got a tear. It's a new bag so who knows, it could turn out to be a weak point. Sitting on webbing would take some of the stress off the shoulder straps but civvies ain't hiking in webbing. I appreciate it has a floating lid but that's by the by really. You can still fit load lifters. Consequently, having the lid fully extended and the pack fully loaded will only make the sag worse. Add to that high winds and you got some real problems., not just fatigue. Don't get me wrong here Jim, I'm not here to slag ya pack off, more I'm talking myself out of buying one, because I really want this, it just has issues for anyone wanting it for hiking or wild camping up the lakes and fells i believe. I can't for the life of me understand why the didn't add load lifters. I can only assume they target military customers and not civvies. Come to think of it, I never noticed a waist belt either so it's definitely built to sit on a webbing belt. No snow sleeves on the sides or drainage, cost shaving, slack design or just strange, it's anyone's guess I suppose. All in all it's a beautiful pack, great materials, £99 for mtp outstanding value right now. (No idea why it's £150 for olive green but I'll wait). If your pulling up in a car next to some woods and walking 500 yards in for a bit bushcraft, superb go for it. But if your like me and want it for that reason AND also for wild camping up the fells fully loaded out without a webbing belt, then this packs gonna desperately need a visit to jay jays for some load lifters and a waist belt or I envisage a world of discomfort. Though admittedly the waist belt would sit too high probably. I'll probably still buy this when it's available again in green, because, well, I never learn from my own critical thinking lol. I see what I like and buy it, but hey, arnt we all gear freaks. Nice one Jimmy, I just subscribed marra. Oh and enjoy ya time out in the field with the Mandingo. 👍 Oh, I did mean to ask ya, those three pouches, is one big enough to get a crusader water bottle AND cook set in? If not that's another mess kit rethink for me. Cheers bud

Thanks for the very in depth comment 🤣🤣 some good points I really like this pack and it go's really well with my webbing I've used it on a few day camp's on it's own and not had any problems but it wasn't fully loaded it's a pack I will use mostly if going with minimal kit Hiking up hill's or mountains is definitely not something I would use this pack to be honest more of a bushcraft type of camping or woodland camp's I've not had any more issues with the straps but I'm keeping an eye on them I'm hoping to get the green version soon as they send it out to test it I agree that it should have lifting straps adding a belt possibly be too high up in my opinion hope I've covered everything mate atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

Hahaha, i just watched that vid, its pulling the shoulders straight off him. I tried to get a bcb in a utility pouch and i could just get a thermos food flask in it with a copious amount of room at the top, plus with all the problems with things you said, a thermos on the back full of hot food, the bag makes you mad tbh. Food onit feels twice the weight. I walked like 100m to a camp with it and was in back pain for a good 6-8 hours. Despite all the markets for this bag I would go with camoflauge aldi bags, 2 birds with one stone. @KittchenSink
