Love the way you articulated your commitment to executing the kitbash for your own edification and not going for a perfect paint job. As someone who is very much a beginning painter, that’s something I have been struggling with a little!

I've found people go one of two ways in this hobby. You either get really really good at painting models other people make or you get into kitbashing. Welcome to the kitbashing side of our hobby. We like to use root veggies as objective markers and don't like to give games workshop much of anything if we can help it.

Great video! The more turnip28 the better. One tip: maybe lower the music volume. At times it's hard hearing what you say because of it.

Nice general. When I get special tea tins or boxes, I tend to collect them as-is. Stick 'em on a shelf, so I can look at them some more. I don't think I'd want to cover over them with paint. (Disposable paper packaging is fair game, of course. I cut them up into sections of scrap card stock, and even build a whole terrain building around two whole boxes glued together.)

4:57 "So I'm sharing it so you don't have to be worried about the hobby videos you watch being kind of weird" - A Turnip 28 player, while the ambient background music slowly increases in volume🎃 Notable Materials used: Jewelers wire, PVA glue, Milliput, Green Stuff, Some unknown putty, Cotton, Burnt Sienna and "Bladder Green" whashes, Acrylic putty, A coffee can Notable Kits Used: Turnip28: The Forlorn Hope Kickstarter, Empire Arms Greatswords, Rotten City Barrel - 1:13 Inspiration for the kitbash: "The Third Tea Painting" - David Hockney. also found it reffered to as "Tea Painting in an Illusionistic Style" or just "Tea Painting" - 2:16 Using paper as a support so the model can stand on top of it in the coffee can - 2:24 Prime the inside black so it doesn't get in the way later(also hides the tissue paper) - 2:39 Dry fitting and adjusting horse legs from Perry's men-at-arms horses kit - 2:40 Using Milliput to add volumes to the legs - 3:03 60mm base with minimal basing work done with Milliput since the model covers most of it - 3:29 Character being bashed up from the Empire Arms Greatsword kit(Warhammer I'm guessing), Rotten City barrel for the backpack(couldn't quite source this), and The rest of the bits from The Turnip28: The Forlorn Hope kickstarter - 3:30 Using hobby knife to clean up mold lines and pin drilling the parts for a better fit, attaching the barrel backpack with milliput - 3:30 Kitbashing is also about removing items and not just adding more bits onto the model since that destroys readability - 4:25 Using some mystery putty, covers the logo, ding the top and bottom of it, add swallowtails to the ends that bend around the can - 4:50 Since metal is hard to paint, coats with Acrylic putty so the paint adheres and has a nice armor texture - 5:18 Sculpting a tiny flower on the figures head with green stuff and a homemade tool made from a pole with a piece of wire tapped to it for fine detail - 5:30 Green stuff tarps over the side of the barrel backpack to hide the lack of detail - 5:38 Adding some more bits(A shield from some kit, some wooden sticks) to the can, gluing the lid in place - 5:55 Wire tree added to tin(probably jewelers wire), covered in PVA glue, putty, and some green stuff additions, in addition to some candle models - 6:20 Texture paint base and model for grim, primed black - 6:50 using masking tape to get the red streak on the can over the brown(Dark paint job with a few stand-out bright spots) - 7:09 Free-handing the lettering on the front with a micron penk, as well as the shield on the side with a brush - 7:29 Wash with a mix of burnt sienna and "bladder green" 2:1 mix. - 8:55 Dips cotton into pva/water solution and leaves it out to dry to make roots. Enamel whashs to give green tint - 9:15 Add grass tufts to base and model, with some brown contrast paint slopped on.

@magniwalterbutnotwaltermag1479

He specifically said "Some of those guys can be sus." And it's no lie that of the problematic "history" buffs out there those that ONLY focus on ww2 are most likely to own tank models from some certain red-colour-adjacent European powers and align with them politically. Like there's a reason the terms 'Tankie' and 'Wehraboo' exist. It's not even a secret online. They're everywhere from Warhammer (30k, 40k, Titanicus), Star Wars Legions, hell even Napoleonic wars and steampunk versions, they find ways to be there not even just historical models.
@TheSuburbanScumbag
@TheSuburbanScumbag 10 ай бұрын
"Wehraboos" is a term used to refer to a group of hobbyists who ONLY play or show interest in the nazi's. However this spills over into the Warhammer 40k community as well
