Join us on an epic Labor Day weekend kiteboarding adventure in Hood River! We teamed up with our homies for an unforgettable journey filled with wind, waves, and hilarious moments.
As we arrived in Stevenson, we were greeted by an unusual east wind. Claudiu, ever the freestyle enthusiast, took to the water. However, the wind decided to play tricks on him, sending him drifting downwind to the beach. In a quick save, he brushed it off with a pretend new trick, much to the amusement of his Romanian buddy. Laughter echoed across the beach.
The next day, we embarked on a breathtaking journey across the Bridge of the Gods, taking in the awe-inspiring views. Our adventure led us eastward to Rufus, where we were thrilled to reunite with our buddy from Squamish, Steve, who was deep into wingfoiling. Rufus didn't disappoint, delivering an exhilarating session filled with massive kiteloops and boosts. Both Matts were in their element, sending it with jaw-dropping loops and boosts.
As night fell, we set up camp in a picturesque campground. The boys had a close call with a tent that nearly took flight in the strong winds. Thankfully, all was well, and we woke up ready for another day of kiting.
This time, Lyle beckoned us with strong, gusty winds. Matt and Mickey threw down some serious loops, while Wojtek showcased a stylish invert and a super spicy handdrag that had everyone cheering. I managed to land some impressive loops too, punctuated by a few fun crashes.
Next day, when the time came for the Vancouver crew to head back, Claudiu remained on the water, unhooking and pulling off sick handlepasses with style. After his Stevenson mishap, he was on cloud nine. As the wind picked up, Claudiu launched into some massive jumps.
That was our cue to hit the water. My new friend Mel and I pushed the limits, unleashing big backroll kiteloops, loops, boardoffs, boogieloops, darkslides, and enormous boosts. It turned out to be the most exhilarating session of the summer, all set against the backdrop of a stunning sunset and magical light. What a day, what a trip!
