When I was in college, I had cheated on my friends that I'm a gospel artist from Bomet. It reached a time when the dean herself knew I'm a gospel artist. I used to prove this using the songs of Kalenjin male gospel artists. Then it came one day when there was a cultural day in our school. I was one of the artists who were listed to perform on that day. I had told everyone that I haven't shot videos for my songs and no one could ask my KZfaq channel anymore. The day arrived and the people were waiting to see me performing live. I had looked for a song to perform and I had gotten three of them. One was ‘Mesas Chii’ by Joyce Langat which I had said we did a ‘collabo’ with my mother and I claimed that Joyce is my mother. It is good I had mastered any part of the song and I could perform to my best the sounds of Gilbert Sigei. People were very happy kwanza Kalenjins because they knew I was lying and they fell in it and cheered me up. The congregation requested me to perform another one and I could say, I need to sing the songs we recorded with my mother Joyce Langat. I showed them waweke ile ya ‘Metyech Gotab Chitab Kokwet’. Anyway, Joyce Langat is my favorite gospel artist. Everyone whom we studied together knows that Joyce is my mother. There is that part of the song Mesas Chii where Gilbert Sigei anaingia akisema; “Chekikole meite wui inono, nyone sait, ongetakaten, itu betut en sobengung, leu ibak kikoik chii werikan oo, nelote biik ndara, mamit oo obule, komwoe kolen ubwo kimotokiyochini kounoon.
