We first saw the Phanteks NV7 chassis at CES earlier this year. Leo gave us an initial rundown of the specifications as well as showing off some of the NV7’s quirky new features. However, some questions were left on the table after that video, so today James will try to answer those questions during a full review of the NV7. So stick with us and let’s find out just how good (or bad) this new case from Phanteks really is. Read more in our written review: bit.ly/41djBQt

Ty for the build but could I ask you for a measurement on this case? Can you measure the top space from the top rail(side panel) to the back where the power supply sits? @ronnyspanneveld8110 as a custom water cooling builder usually. I got rid of the O11DXL cause it felt too small. When you are used to proper full towers, the O11DXL ain't really that big or versatile. This NV7 looks like it would fit a nice Alphacool 360mm monsta in push/pull at the top, while still housing 2 more 360x60mm rads, something that can't be done in the O11DXL. But even still, I'm curious on how will the NV9 will compare to the NV7, but to me, the NV7 clearly looks like a better watercooling case than the O11DXL.

Dunno if they sent you the case but a shame they didn't add the new D30 fans into the build. And that you had to build with older fans. And also the builds I've seen is using 7 fans for exhaust and 5 for pull. That's what I was hoping for. First one that used 140mm in the bottom and the rest 9 fans for exhaust. Would be nice to see if there is a difference with 12 of the D30 fans and in another config. Good review though. Still reluctant if I'm gonna keep my nv7 which is arriving tommorow or if I shall send it back and just go for a normal case like lian li lancool 3 or perhaps lian li 216 instead.

Love the build but this is an awful lot of exhaust creating a very nagatibe case pressure which will make the case quite dusty very quickly, I think it's designed to have those 4 side fans as intake as well which would be perfect. I absolutely love the 3 140 mil fans at the bottom as intake as it fills the space up so much better in such a large case! Safe to say I'll scrap my plans for the Lian Li 011 Dynamic EVO and go with this instead! Very tastefully done in form and function

@@KitGuruJames the asthetic certainly benefits from them mounted in that way. If that's the focus in such a showcase style frame then I totally understand. Looks like Phanteks made the brand new D30-120 RGB fans in both backward and forward flowing configurations just for this reason. Another gorgeous video. One major consideration for me would be that, unlike cases without side fans, you can't push this case up to a surface like the side of your desk or a wall so you end up with a pretty mammoth case taking up even more space. (Well technically you could push the window side against a surface but what's the point of that?) Also, a question about the number of intake fans vs the number of extraction fans. Why? Surely that will result in a negative internal pressure reducing the effectiveness of the AIO and also sucking dust in through every little crack that isn't covered by a dust filter.

@@yougrin it depends whether you want to prioritise CPU or GPU cooling. If your priority is CPU then install the AIO rad on the side mount with intake fans, with bottom intake fans and top/rear exhausts. If you want to prioritise GPU cooling then install the CPU radiator in the roof with exhaust fans. If I was to build a gaming system in this case that will be used daily, I would have intake fans on the side/bottom fan mounts and exhaust on the top/rear fan mounts with the CPU AIO in the roof.

9 exhaust fans and only 3 intake fans is the worst ventilation I've seen in a long time but that's more on the installer than Phanteks. I've heard there are some newer fans that have reverse flow but the M25 fans are conventional. Normally with negative airflow this bad it'll pull from the unfiltered spots but I'm not even sure there's any openings left to draw air into the case. Well there are small areas in the rear to allow dust laden air into the case so I’d say while the case looks nice, it’s functionally a mess. Which highlights a weakness of this case…the lack of filtering. Phanteks, like Lian Li, tout their mesh as a filter but with the Phanteks mesh hole size known on their other cases to be 1mm (as opposed to the larger 1.5mm hole size in the Lian Li mesh screens) I can only assume the mesh on this case is also ineffective as a dust filter as well. Worse now since this is an extreme negative pressure build. The assembler decided to go for looks over functionality. That is going to be one hot dusty box. That is the epitome of a brain fart.

@@bowhunterxxx ultrafine mesh doesn't work that well as a dust filter. So using the side as intake will pull in as much dust than all those exhausts. I would use the side as an intake with different fans but the back of M25 fans isn't so pretty. They were placed as exhaust more for the looks.

@@KitGuruJames, You don't seem to understand negative pressure do you? You will have dust everywhere every non-air-tight part of the case where if positive pressure you will only have 2 places to clean been building pc since they came into existence. Airflow direction would also be better.

@@bowhunterxxx I understand negative pressure. I have built, upgraded, repaired and modified PC's since the mid 90's so don't worry about my experience. What you need to understand is this is a showcase system, it's already been disassembled so it never had the chance to build up dust. As I've said in a previous comment if I was building this for long term use I would have used different fans and had the side as intake. 👍

I love tinted glass ❤, it feels more premium than without tint! Best tints so far have Corsair 4000D and 5000D 😊

Just get a light strip and set it to dim white around the glass

I hate all glass. I don't want to see any internal components unless I open the case. If you do that you can get rid of the power supply shroud and let the lowest front fan have any function at all. I want a computer case for grownups without any glass or lights. Preferably with the aesthetics of the CDC 6600, or maybe 1990s beige. I remember the days when you could just rivet in extra hard drive cages at the bottom of the case without affecting the GPU airflow too much.
