That’s why I don’t like the states. Like, anything you say in front of cameras without thinking can and will be used against you, no matter what you have said and what you have meant. There will always be the offended, journalists, interpreters with lawsuits and so on. Japan is a far cry from the US and I hope it will remain like that as long as possible

I think you are misunderstanding his statement. He meant the self-confidence, the mind set, that he has now which he didn’t have when he was 14. That’s why he meant this “soul.” 1:51

Yeah the American perspective. Always extreme. What he meant was that if he were to go back in his middle school days with the maturity his current self has, he might've pulled a girl or two. Its pretty common to say that where I live but its usually used in an educational context (like "if I were to go back to my school days with my current brain, I'd score pretty great")
