I have installed the AeroLED wingtip nav/strobe lights for super bright lights. I'm also in the process of installing a new JPI-730 digital engine monitor. Visit www.aeroleds.com for the lights I used in this video.

I like your plan, and plane! Mooneys are great planes! My uncle had a ‘68 he purchased in ‘72. He sold it in ‘85. I would love to own a Mooney!

Love the channel. This year I pulled the trigger on 2 G5's and a GTN 650. Zero regrets.

I picked up a 1962 M20C project in August, gear partially failed with a crosswind landing. Hoping to rivet the new wing tip skin on this week and re-attach the tail cone. Everyone raves about how enjoyable they are to fly and I’m hoping to find out for myself soon.

I really enjoy this Mooney. It's relatively fast and economical to fly.

FWIW I found my JPI-730 hard to read mounted on the co-pilot side. The digital portion does not show up once you reach a certain angle... if that makes sense? Mounted in the middle should be better!! I loved my 730!

Mark, I have a 65 M20C that I am working on. Did you get the lights from aircraft spruce or did you find cheaper? Also what is the parts number for all 3? (Suntail, sun beacon and nav lights) I like what you are doing. I am doing a new panel with an EFI.

Good video if your going to do your own work on your avionics get a hold of approach fast stack and talk to Tim he can make all your harnesses for your avionics if you upgrade. He made mine for my Saratoga and now working on harnesses for my piper Malibu pa46

It looks good Mark. It's too bad you can't redo the entire panel and put Dynon avionics in it. I think it would look good with 10 inches of glass

@@KitplaneEnthusiast Mark, I have the understanding that an A&P can do the install, seems an avionics shop would have to do any checks of transponder, radios, etc... Check out this link, seems that it may make Dynon a little more affordable if your install could be done by yourself and your A&P buddy via Dynons direct purchase/install method! www.dynoncertified.com/stc-install.php (my understanding of this may be wrong, but seems possible.) Man I LOVE the Mooneys!

Do your Pulsars on the Cruzer strobe-off-strobe-off? I just got my NSPs and they're on-off-on-off. It looks like yours are rapid-pulsing when on, but it could just be the frame rate of the camera.

My Dad and his flying buddies first Mooney was a Mark 21 and It was 1962 or 63. The tail number is hauntingly familiar. However, I do remember the ramrod of the joint ownership group ordered the Mark 21 with the ski rack down the fuselage. So my question is: does N6273U have a ski rack?
@KitplaneEnthusiast
@KitplaneEnthusiast 2 жыл бұрын
Prob a different plane-my Mooney had no ski racks.

@@KitplaneEnthusiast Thank you for your response. The incorporated group that my dad had the Mark 21 later got a Super 21 (N5755Q) then two Executive 21's one was a 1966 (N9565M) the last was a 1969 (N9777M). Some where in the late 60's early 70's Mooney went into receivership and for a few years operated under the Mitsubishi name. The "partnership" kept "triple seven mike" going until 1983 when somebody bought it at 4,500 hours to use as trade-in for a 231. Although my dad had his CFI and commercial certificate, he couldn't do anymore than teach us but not sign us off. But I flew Mooneys before I flew a Cessna 172 or 182. Thinking about it, you said the step on your Mooney Mark 21 retracted by vacuum. The Mark 21 my dad had the there was a crank for the step. The Super 21 was the first Mooney I recall with the vacuum retracting step.

Hey quick question I didn't see anything about the wiring you skip that part and the power supply in the back did you still use the old power supply?
@KitplaneEnthusiast
@KitplaneEnthusiast 4 жыл бұрын
The new LED lights require no power pack. I used the same shielded wire that was already run through the wings.
@agrimm01
@agrimm01 4 жыл бұрын
You didn't mention or show anything about the wiring for the LEDs. Where did you make the connection and was it just a straight wire to wire connection?
@sunnycrockett123

Does it still utilize the old power supply in the fuselage?
@KitplaneAdventures
@KitplaneAdventures 4 жыл бұрын
@@sunnycrockett123 NO! That's what's great about these LED's. They require no power supply and draw very little amperage.

Dumb question (and maybe you already answered this and I missed it), but how are you able to do things like avionics upgrades on a certified aircraft? Do you have your A&P certificate? I would assume so given the hours you've spent building planes already,.

@@KitplaneEnthusiast Hey thanks for the response, I really appreciate the clarification. Hopefully I didn't come off accusatory, I was just curious. I'm very new to aviation and completely inexperienced with the ownership end of things. I love the content you're putting out here though, it's really helped show me how everything works at it's most basic levels.

Yes I know. Wiring is dirt simple! If I remember there's only three wires per side and I connected them to the existing wiring that was already in the wing.

You are correct. I’ve mentioned this a number of times, but all the work I do is inspected and signed off by my A&P friends. Some of the work I do is done with the help of my A&P buddies, but they don’t really want to be on camera so You don’t see them.
