It’s interesting how Kiki seems disinterested in the goings on these days. I remember when Mimi was actually a bit aggressive when Kiki had her first litter. I wonder if it’s the change in hormones after kittens are weaned.

​​​​@@paperchaser29 Yes the hormones are controlling everything. The mothering hormones flowing around Mimi and Lili are making them more tolerant and receptive to Nico. But once their babies are weaned, it is unlikely that they will continue to indulge him. Kiki's responsibility for Nico ended once he was weaned. It is normal for mother cats to cease 'mothering' their offspring at this stage. They may become more like friends. In the wild, males are encouraged to go off and find another family, to prevent inbreeding.

It's interesting to see in this video that Lili does not seem to be targeted by Nico. As her babies are going onto solids, her milk bar seems less popular, and I'm wondering if she has already become less friendly towards Nico.

If I see one more comment saying obvious things like the mother needs to wean the grown up babies or the milk is for the babies, I'm honestly gonna feel annoyed 😂 Its not that people don't get that sentiment, people do. But there is always someone out there who feels pity or sad when they see a kitten or a cat still attached to nurse on mom cat, or make biscuit, to other cats in general. I see that as an attempt of them to find comfort, or seek remembrance of nursing their mother. If I see a kitten making biscuits on male adult cat aka uncle cat, its not like I'm gonna outright remove the kitten from the cat. It just feels so wrong. Sometimes just telling them its not their mother, or they don't have nipple because they are not female, I still feel bad. And more than anything else, if the cat they nurse on turns out to be someone they thought of as a close friend, or a parental figure, it gives me all the more reason to not stop them from doing what they do. If adult cats 'dont mind' grown up kitten nursing on them, or making biscuits, I'm not gonna strip them of their right and feeling to do so. I savour that kind of deep feeling and attachment. 'Its not even about me trying to disassociate them from the act, getting them accustomed to doing it, or enabling bad behaviour.' its simply me treasuring the kind of bond that exist between the cats and kitten. In other words, the situation is subjective. If the mother of cat really did just gave birth to kittens and needed to store ample amounts of milk for kittens, by every means you are right to take appropriate action. However, doesn't mean it is wrong for someone to state what they feel about a certain situation. For instances, I do feel the same. I feel like if mother cat Mimi 'actually' doesn't mind Nico nursing or do any gesture that indicates so, I wouldn't necessarily prevent it. Or remove Nico's hand, 'immediately' everytime he tries to nurse. If I saw instances where mother cat Mimi doesn't mind, I will just monitor, and keep them under close watch so as to make sure nothing goes off the rail.

He eats real food and there is also special milk to buy for cats. So if a cat absolutely needs to suckle despite being big and weened you can feed them milk with a baby bottle 😉 I had a male cat that tried to suckle his mommy despite being over 1 year old old and much bigger than her but his grown teeth hurt her nipples so she screemed after a short while 🫢

The owner is doing the right thing by keeping grown up Nico away from the mother. The mother milk is for her kittens. Nico is not a kitten anymore.

Previously it was his aunt that Nico was trying to nurse from. Now his grandma is his target. He has also tried to mount them on a few occasions. This was probably filmed in March, so hopefully by now, he has been neutered, and this behaviour has stopped.

She is the only munchkin amongst all the kittens in the birthing box. She will never match their size. There is nothing wrong with her, unless you regard being a munchkin as a disability. Her mother Lili, her aunt Kiki, and her sibling Charo, are all munchkins. Kiki (Nico's mother) was a very small kitten too.
