JGI does not endorse handling or close proximity to wildlife. This represents a sanctuary context with trained professionals.
The Jane Goodall Institute’s Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of the Congo is a safe haven for chimpanzees and other wildlife rescued from threatened habitat and abuse. To help combat the illegal wildlife trade, JGI has formed the JGI RoC Canine Detection Unit - a unique team of Tchimpounga Park Rangers and dogs specially trained to sniff out wildlife trafficking. Tchimpounga Rangers train these intelligent dogs 6 days a week to make sure they are experts: using their powerful senses to sniff out illegally trafficked wildlife and resources to make JGI's sanctuary a safe and hopeful place.
Please consider supporting our mission, rangers and sniffer dogs as we work to provide hopeful futures for chimpanzees and all wildlife by becoming (or gifting) a Chimpanzee Guardian: shop.janegoodall.org/chimpguar...
