I too am in the same situation, feeling like I need to physically hold them in place to get them to sound right. I've had to revert to foam tips otherwise to get anywhere near a "normal" seal. To me the fit is kind of like the battle I had with the Blon 03 a couple years ago. It's like the nozzle seems to be too short, but also at a weird angle. Not sure if they look that way, but that's how they feel in ear.

When I come across IEMs that don't fit properly due to the contour you mentioned, the only tips that work for me are Dunu S&S tips. Out of curiosity, what tips did you try?
@harpergeraci2507
@harpergeraci2507 4 ай бұрын
I definitely have the same issue. Near impossible to get a proper seal with these IEMS with stock tips, but when I can, it sounds great. Otherwise, it's this weird, shallow fitting, very hollow sound with constant breaks in seal. The one workaround I've found is to use SpinFit double flange CP240 tips. Works surprisingly well. Perfect seal every time. Just kinda sucks because they're pretty intrusive and probably alter the sound signature a bit, and you still don't get that proper insertion depth.

Sure raises an interesting point about how useful iem reviews actually are. It took me forever to find a semi decent fit with the hexa. I guess every review comes with the imaginary disclaimer: "If your ear canal and the fit is similar to the reviewer," *shrug*
@taidee
@taidee 5 ай бұрын
You have an important point there, because a few things are not mention on the reviews that turn out to be an issue. With the LetShouer S12 I had a cable issue, first when I listened to a friend's one before mine arrived, the cable would lift up behind my ear the moment it got warmth from my head, irritatingly so, these are things that don't bother other people, and there's quite a few.

Oof. That's why having a good collection of eartips comes in handy in situations like that. What you described seems easier to fix with long-stemmed eartips. Final type E is long stemmed and they always 'darken' the sound due to the deeper insertion.

I got my review set yesterday and, fortunately, it fits my ears well. I have been very happy with them so far, but I do agree that it has some weird issues. I too, could not get a good seal with the provided tips. I did find the Azla tips made a vast improvement. Another issue I had was the cable. It was meh at best; a downgrade from others in the price category at worst. Either way, this one looks to be more of a contentious release. Keep up the good work.

I think the helmholtz resonator is not new at all in iems. not just the aful magicone, but even moondrop blessing and project red and many other hybrids with DDs. just look at the tubes going out from the single dd on the blessing, with one branch going out to the rear chamber. that is a helmholtz resonator. although using the resonator specifically to achieve a midbass scoop could be new on the singolo.

Good review. These things are definitely important to consider, and it’s beneficial to explain why something may not sounds good to you, rather than a blanket statement. Mine is still in transit, so I look forward to seeing how it works for me. I also find it funny that every reviewer plays with the name, lol. Even some who are trying to play it straight (even crin) still end up mispronouncing it slightly since they put the emphasis on the “o”, when the “i” is supposed to be the vowel that’s emphasized. Pronounced like Sìn-go-lo

For me the fit issue has been with Dunu SA6 MkII, Divinus tips seem to be the only ones that help, all others allow the IEM to sit in such a manner that little wing tip start to cause pain. I agree, while IEM's can be quite revealing getting that seal can be difficut. Recently found Whizzer tips well suited to a longer nozzle for fit and comfort. Is there significant sound field variation to warrant the more expensive option.

Is the length mode issue a problem with too little ear volume or too much? If it is too little, is it solvable with using long triple flange tips? 6:50 This happens to my left ear when wearing the Waner set with the largest tips, it slightly slides out and creates an imbalance seal which creates a weird feeling and also imbalance in sound. Heres a tip for a much better seal without pushing the nozzles in your ear canal and having them slide out. Wear them like regular ear buds lol (dont use the ear hooks over your ears) you dont even have to push them in deep just put them in and it creates a good seal, but this works for me because I dont move around much while sitting down.

But I do think that if this was from the perspective of two reviewers, we’d get a lot more info about the IEM itself (from someone who had a good seal) and then at the end put a YMMV disclaimer & ding it for potential for issues.

Pretty much exactly my experience, right down to the tips being terrible. Almost aways included tips are too small for me, so this isn't unusual in my experience. The Singolo has been a real lesson on how important fit is to sound quality for an IEM. I used my 14mm tips, (manufacturers please note), by twisting the IEM and moving it around I found a good seat in my ear and after EQ they sound pretty nice. Cleaner and tighter than the similar sounding Kiwi Ears Cadenza. The included cable is pretty awful. Especially disappointing considering the cheaper Cadenza includes a much nicer cable. In my opinion, the raison d'tre for the Singolo worked; the shape not so much. I hope there is a version 2 with more attention paid to fitting humans. OEM's should take notes from that Trillion dollar company in California on how to fit ears and design to a sound target for the mass market and not a few in house testers. Just a suggestion.

My "issue" with such audio coverage is this. For this specific IEM - you call it as you see it. It doesn't work for you. I'm completely fine on that point, that's honesty. Best policy. But this is a double-edged sword in our genre. My next comments aren't against this channel alone - as it says below. Many of you (YT audio reviewers) say fekk all about countless IEM's that could easily suffer the same fate as this colab. Yet the videos never see light of day. In that circumstance, a channel sits in silence and says nothing. It's underhand and isn't transparent. Normally I'm more positive and upbeat. But the practice I describe is not only immoral, it's not at all valuable and ethical in the genre you're amassing followers within. I'm sure for many of the oldest viewers watching this, you can already instantly think of many IEM's where influencers stay silent and don't release a review. I think you can all see my point here. It's not criticism in a video that I'm talking about - it's a clear decision to not make a video at all. I also acknowledge you'll also see content where a YT channel will say from time to time, that they may not create a video. But, comments aside - a cool vid, and a like from me. I hope the YT influences who have been guilty of staying silent and not filming a "this is a sub-standard IEM" review - work more openly in 2024 to those they ask to like/share/comment/subscribe. A much more interesting year ahead we'd have lol. Crin can be brutal, and he has the biggest following, I wonder if there's a link lol...

The problem is exactly that - there are countless IEMs. Reviewers generally only review what's sent to them. And of what's sent to them, not everything can get reviewed because there's only so many hours in a day. While there are some people that do YT reviews as a full-time job, a lot more do it as a hobby on the side and have a traditional day job. You need to prioritize the content you want to make. It's not very interesting nor is it fun to spend time on making videos and measuring random $50 no-name IEMs that no one will remember in a week. Videos and measurements take time to make, ears need time to listen, and thoughts need time to formulate. It's not as simple as opening the box, listening for an hour, then turning on a camera, and spouting off first impressions. Nor would that be a good review in any case. With the Singolo, it's a high-profile product made by one of the biggest names in the hobby. It's an IEM that many people are looking at with interest so it makes sense to cover it.

I had the same experience with fit and tips on the phoenixcall , i like the sound but I can clearly hear a differrent with the stock tips or other tips. Im senstivie to treble so this could be a factor that I can hearthe difference clearly. But yea would rather prefer a fit like the Seeaudio Bravery SE that doesnt have kirk to go out of my ear by itself xD And I prefer to tape the Airhole on my EA500 because it gets to lose and I lose much of the Details because of it.

Stammi bene 🤝 English translation: Mamma mia! Pizza pepperoni, spaghetti ketchup, Alfredo sauce! "Capeesh"? 🤌 (just kidding, hit the handy "translate" button, sorry can't be arsed)

I had the same problem. I can’t say that I’m just not keen on them, it’s more they are intolerable and give me a headache. Shame as the bass is quite good.

I use a similar silicon, but I put a small amount into some final type e tips, I put the tips on the iem, then flip the tip inside out, put a small ring of the silicon around the type e’s stem. I then flip the tip back and put the iems in my ear as normal. I hold them I my ears and apply a little pressure to the rear of the iem with my finger, and keep my mouth slightly open and wait for 10 mins for the silicon to set. I then have custom moulded very comfortable tips. I do this on all iems and have no fit issues anymore. This brought a lot of bass for me so I suspect I never got proper seal with any iem before doing this.

I disagree with your recommendation for a harman target compliant iem. Simgot em6l has more higher low mids and slightly lower sub bass. Truthear Nova is much more close to harman target 2019v2. You can check the graphs on crincale's iem comparison tool. But in terms of comfort and fit , simgot eml is better. Truthear nova is chonky and not for small ears or ear entrances.
