KiwiRail Action on the Wairarapa line (HD)

Over a 5 day period, we film KiwiRail services in the Upper Hutt and Wairarapa regions. This video has DFB class locomotives working solo and in pairs on Wairarapa log trains as well as passenger services. We film in locations such as Carterton, Featherston, and Silverstream as well as many other places.

A full logger goes past the end of our St at Approx 11pm most nights and returns with empties at about 3am. Don't really notice it unless its a southerly blowing

Great Video! Two things stood out! 1: the commuter train had an engine at both end's are they both running for each trip or is it a convenience feature for the driver to simply change ends for the return journey! my second question is a mixed opinion and observation, 1. it's great to see those logs on wagons and off the road! but 2: why are we growing trees simply to export them as logs to china! and we get stuck with 30 years of land use loss and the trash! I worked in Dannevirke as a Bank mgr in the mid 90's 10 K acres went to trees in those years I bet every one of those trees went off shore and only created jobs for planting and harvesting and transport! my guess is there will be another 10 k acres in trees again! just saying! thanks for sharing
