The o-ring inside the piston moves slightly from back to front between the two white piston plastics. The piston sucks the air through the perforated hole in the piston itself, and the o'ring seals on the "push" stroke. Look at the piston assembly at 1:31 to 1:40 , and you will see. There is where the magic happens. (The inlet is actually the four holes on the motor side, and the piston pulls the air to the valve side before compressing it with the o-ring.)

@@skottie369what is the point of all the notches on the disc in between the two pistons? I see what you’re saying about the o ring sliding from front to back but the notches don’t make much sense to me. Also if the solid disc is closest to motor side how does air pass the disc?
