You're forgetting one important thing about when they're punching the nails through those I beams. They're Chinese grade I beams.

This would be a really solid nail driver if it was forged instead of cast from soft steel. I'm sure there are domestically produced ones for 8x the price that are made in that exact way, too. Definitely a great idea, just made of Chinesium like most of the tools in these demos. I will edit this to say for around $15 with shipping it's a solid deal and surprisingly sturdy for being so cheap.

You don't see me posting myself screwing up three pieces of perfectly good flooring before I cut one right to fit a doorway and its trim, or stripping out two 3" screws before I manage to drive one to depth...

Love the video's. Your hammer technique could use a little tweaking. I'm a master carpenter of over 45 years. All you need to do is not try to kill it with the hammer just hit it square and firm. And your right it's exactly like a 10 yr old. Again GREAT VIDEO'S!

The reason the cement nails were failing is they were probably made in the US, they won’t have near the tensile strength as the good quality Chinesium ones LOL

My cousin does gutters and he came up with something like this in the late 90's. I forget exactly how he used it but I think it was used for when you couldn't reach what ever you were hammering in. Like reaching around a corner, over the roofs edge. Essentially it would let you keep your wrist straight rather than curling it under and struggling to hold the nail.

I’ve come across “Made from German Steel, manufactured in China” before. Common practice with Japanese knife manufacturers using Japanese steel but making the knifes in China as it’s cheaper. Genuine traditional Chinese knives is the one to go for if you want Chinese knives made in China.

This tool makes a lot of sense when you consider the origin point. Many countries have extreme regulations on even gunpowder and that ram set might not be available for anyone without the proper permits. Look at the home made firearm used to kill the former Japanese PM. Because Japan strictly regulates gunpowder even not just firearms. Most citizens cannot buy it let alone find it to buy. And if Japan is like that.. well I doubt China is any more 'free' when it comes to gunpowder and firearms.

I have seen the Ramsets in action on jobsites I would deliver to, but 1 worker took his to another level: he had a leather holster made for it, the shells, and the hammer he liked to use with it. 🤪

I think the most important thing that you mentioned before testing, then never brought up again, is that with your poor hammer aim the tool at least saved your thumb from being the unfortunate target. Love your videos, keep it up.

A tip that may help you when your trying to hit something with a hammer, aim for the base of the nail or chisel not the top that's just something I learned in masonry

I've used something similar to this. But I think we called them fence hammer pliers or fencing pliers or some goofy name like that. They were great for starting U-nails and other odd shaped fasteners when building fences.

As someone mentioned they probably used Chinese steel. I used to work in a shipping and receiving warehouse. We had two large I beams that was from China. I was there for two years and they never got sold. They would always set on the equivalent from America. We would have to move the China steel to get to America steel.

When I was a landscaper, I was rushing to get a concrete base prepped and was smacking starter bars into an existing concrete base and dropped my two pound mash hammer onto my thumb and blew it's guts out under the nail. Not saying this woulda helped but there ya go

That totally surprised me! I actually hammer nails in concrete but it’s still fairly green. That might be something to look into to save on your fingers. The nails we use are only 1-2” long.

I honestly cannot imagine any scenario where that would need to be used lol Oh wait, I know... if you want to let your 5 year old help you 'build' stuff and they want to hammer in a nail. That would protect your hand from the inevitable bashing from the kid.

Judging by the grain in the hole in the wood, it looks like it might be red oak. If so, that's a pretty hard wood, and very hard to drive a nail into without predrilling

My buddy bought one years ago, he didn't want ammo in his house from ram set. It was made from powder metal. By the 4th nail in his basement it broke into pieces.

The first issue I noticed was that the thing is made from cast metal. Which for the pliers is fine, however unless you are springfield armory and know how to make casts sturdy that anvil/driver should be made of some heat treated steel.

I have one of these and have used it. It was a gift, because I used to have a toolbox that was nothing but gadget tools, a weird hobby my brother and I both had. I've used it a few times to nail sleepers and such to concrete, and it does absolutely work -- it's easier if the first tap is medium-light. It's slightly easier than using a pair of pliers to hold the concrete nail. It does work as a lightweight hammer, if you don't have an actual hammer with you. It doesn't really work worth much for any of its other functions. I wouldn't bother carrying it around, but as gadget tools go it's about even with the spring-pin Gator socket -- it does work, if you're careful and don't overtax it, but it's a good thing that it's so cheap.

If they where going to rattle off countries on the packaging, why not just list all the countries? China, Taiwan, Germany, Japan, USA, Mexico, Austria, ect. Confuse everyone a little more.

You’re hammer swinging isn’t as bad as you’d think, the head on that thing is so tiny it’s hard to get a decent enough swing while also being able get enough force into the nail.

I've never paid attention to it but I wonder if Ramset box advertises how many pound feet of energy they have. Be it the shells or the gun. A 2# sledge has unbelievable energy. Higher than many pistol calibers. A .45 cal 1911 with regular cheap fmj bullets (which penetrate well for a pistol) will not go through 1/8" mild. I have turned so many groundhog silhouette steel targets into funnels but they never poke through. It's weird cause 9mm just pokes holes through them.

Here, where very hard wood used to be common, builders always use some lighter taps initially, building up the holes and not whack it from the start as it is known to bend the nails.
