Once the bridged is machined, what are the steps to effectively shape and finish the bridge before sintering? I follow a routine shaping workflow using the Meisinger JK04 Zirconia Lab Kit. Quite often, when using the multi zirconia options such as Katana or ZirCAD Multi, I will use selective infiltration to control value and enhance the multi-effect when the case demands a better blend.

What a great educational video (one of many), I share all your videos with our new cerec owners as well as those who have been using cerec for 15+ years that are now getting into Zirconia. Very helpful for those need that understanding the nature of Zirconia. BTW..I think the Klim Zirconia pre and post finishing kit by Meisinger is on back order because I sell this to everyone getting a new system but that kit is all you need. Thanks Dr. Klim! Cheers

I appreciated this video immensely. I have been undecided on which type of teeth replacement to choose from. I just started to research the different types of materials replacement teeth can be made from. Thanks for the video. I will continue to watch with enthusiasm to get a better understanding of the process involved with making zirconium teeth. Many thanks.

Yes Daniel. I can appreciate the research process. I test a lot of materials and do clinical research. It takes time. I always look at peer review first and then clinically apply.

Awesome video Doc. How do you manage to incorporate this into your daily workflow? Do you pick and choose the cases in which you go to this extent so that you don't spend every waking moment of the day printing models and characterizing crowns? I'd imagine if you work outside the confines of dental insurance you'd be able to really take your time with each unit... Curious to hear how you tackle this. Thank you!

As will all aspects of dentistry, there are learning curves and efficient application of skill sets. In my CAD/CAM theater, most posterior single and quad units are one appointment. I have found that bridges, implant restorations, and multiple anterior units are accomplished over two appointments to better manage chairside time. The design, milling, and finishing of these cases are accomplished throughout the day when there is lag time between clinical care and milling/firing times. I have worked out systems to utilize my time well and get a lot done. Printing is very easy. This can be delegated and the actual management time for printing is just a few minutes. I manage two appointment applications during my normal clinical day by multi tasking. This will make an interesting video

I'm three years late to your video, hope you see my question. More or less, how many bridges like this does your sintered diamond needle burr can stand before replacing?
@KlimDDS
@KlimDDS Ай бұрын
Green zirconium is soft and chalk-like and will last a long time. In other words, I do a lot of zirconia, and the needle bur is still working after four years. On the other hand, diamond needle burs last only a short time on crystalized ceramics. All the best.

Great video. I am a patient that is awaiting a bridge. The product was presented to me for approval before installing. The color was definitely off. Owner of practice claimed that bridge would be sent back and some minor touch ups could be made to the color to slightly darken it. I don't believe this is possible after it has already been glazed. Is this correct? I am very concerned.

Sir, the shape of the basal side of the bridge is incorrect. A convex shape is far more hygenic and biological than a concave shape. What do you think about that? Best regards from Germany. 👋
@KlimDDS
@KlimDDS 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ozzy. I agree an ovate pontic application is desired when the ridge form and soft tissue lend to this approach. There are times that a ridge lap design becomes necessary to complete the conditions of the case. A concaved pontic tissue surface is still a reasonable choice when the patient does not present other options. When designing a pontic to the ridge condition, the important part of the design is to create cervical, buccal, and lingual pontic embrasures that are protective to food impaction. With tissue pontic surfaces such as zirconia or ceramic, even concaved designs can be very hygienic. More importantly, it is optimizing the pontic design to prevent food impaction. I have managed this pontic design on several cases over the last three decades without hygiene compromised. The important thing is to optimized design to avoid food impaction. A convex pontic design for the ridge condition of this case would have been the more significant compromise. All the best and greetings to Germany.

What about TZI C ZIRCONIUM??is good or old
@KlimDDS
@KlimDDS 3 жыл бұрын
The InCoris TZI zirconia is an excellent material. It is a 3Y material and used in my clinical theater when I need the ultimate strength. The finishing is accomplished in a similar way, except more coloring infiltration is applied. When firing TZI, I use a 9-hour firing cycle in the Programat S1 furnace. The SpeedFire for a 3Y zirconia material is very opaque. That is when I use a different furnace. The SpeedFire works well for Katana, ZirCAD Multi, and the 3M brands.
