$1,399 is almost cheap for a US made carbon fiber bass with American electronics. I hope this is a hit on the market.

Here's a new task, which suits you Lobster! They also do replacement necks, so if you get Jazz body and put an adjustable Schaller bridge on it, load it with Aguilar pups and OBP, and use their jazz-type graphite neck. I'd like to hear that monster!:D

This instrument line seems promising, there are relatively few affordable options available if you have a hankering for a graphite neck, since the manufacturers working with graphite tend to be very expensive.

@@LowEndLobster Don't forget about Zon! I've had two Zon Sonus's (4 & 5 string) which were outstanding (I only sold them because I was in my 20's and had some medical costs I needed to pay but I wish I still had them). I would really love to buy the Zon Sonus BG4 - Billy Gould signature model. Plus Joe Zon is probably one of the nicest guys I've ever spoken to in any industry :)

Love the warm sounds out of this - especially with the tone control rolled off! The main thing that's turned me off about graphite/composite neck instruments in the past is that they are just too clanky and bright sounding. This one sounds amazing though, and got me tempted.

After watching both this and your video on the Pro version, I am really amazed by this Standard model! This is a tone machine that's reduced to the max! Love its clarity and versatility, and its no-nonsense approach with great innovations in just the right places while keeping it simple stupid for everything that has proven to work perfectly for decades! That standard white color fits that bill as well and it looks great on this instrument. This is the one I'd get. No, wait, the upcoming 5-string version - if it also comes as an affordable Standard model!

Excellent review, Lobster, and really impressed with the sounds of this instrument. I was afraid it would sound too sterile and cold (i.e. like a Modulus Graphite, IMO), but it's got some nice warmth, clarity, and detail. One worth mentioning for us lefties (and maybe you should offer this kind of info in all your future reviews) is that Klos DOES offer left handed options too!

Cool, great sounding little bass! I couldn't live with that headstock though. It's HIDEOUS. I mean, I love symmetrical 2+2 headstocks (the one on the Ibanez Musician was the most beautiful ever, imho) but this... just WHAT. Since they designed it as a travel bass anyway, it would be much better as a headless.

If they allow for specific customization for custom ones like paying extra to shave down the extra fretboard (kind of like how Spectors curve down) and pickups and placement I would easily spend double the starting price if I can have my pickups with the spacing I want. I love carbon necks for gigging, but Modulus is so expensive to get customs from now because they make soooo few at a time since being acquired by PlanetBass and this seems like one of the few options that isn't thousands and thousands of dollars
@pine3737

That is definitely a four claw bass. I like the options and travel features and workmanship. I had a Zon Sonus the problem with carbon fiber is you can't adjust the relief, there is no truss rod, this my not be an issue for most. Also, my Ray 5 does not have the G string problem my two USA stingray 5's had. Thanks , good review.

Great review. For a composite neck that's a nice deal. Looks and sounds are great from your review. Does Klos make their own necks? Their site mentions "Each bass is precisely assembled, wired, and tuned in our factory in Utah, the heart of the Rocky Mountains." I'd be impressed if they actually make their necks inhouse.
@LowEndLobster
@LowEndLobster Жыл бұрын
I do believe they make the necks, but don't manufacture the carbon fiber (which I also believe is imported). They had a dissected one at namm so you could see the inside and explained the process, it was super interesting.
@sunn_bass
@sunn_bass Жыл бұрын
@@LowEndLobster Thanks. Manufacturing with resins and fiber is a royal pain and very messy. But the results are worth it. I still have a Steinberger I bought in high school way back in 1984 or 85. The only bass I'll never sell. The neck has never moved in all those years. As for graphite necks, this bass seems to be a great option. Moses stopped making necks years ago, I don't think Modulus Graphite makes aftermarket necks anymore and Status stopped taking orders a few years ago for replacement type necks. So no options for DYI'ers and mod-folks out there wanting to do a parts bass with a graphite neck, and most available graphite neck basses are above this price point (Zon and Status for instance).
