KLR650 - Reconnaissance Ride - Lake Mead, Nevada

Күн бұрынI needed to get to Lake Mead and have a look for myself to see if the water level had increased enough for me to launch my boat, this type of ride sounded perfect for my KLR650!
So off I went.
Some Interstate, some back ways, and even a smidge of dirt. Round trip, just over 200 miles. And I was right, absolutely fantastic ride on the KLR. For me, this is the type of ride where the KLR shines.
And yes, I was happy to find out that the lake level had indeed increased allowing me to finally launch my boat after an almost two year wait!

To be able to ride from your garage right up to the water at the boat ramp was cool beans DRock. A little history for your channel. In 1962 a 54 room hotel was built. The hotel had a landing strip for private planes and the resterraunt was named " Tail O the Whale" The marina sported 300 slips and always had a waiting list. Lake Meads receding water diminished this once popular resort frequened by the likes of Ann Margaret. The Hotel/restaurant closed Wednesday September 8, 2010 1:55am. Echo bay marina closed in 2013. For those who are unaware...Lake Mead is a constant reality of where were headed. Fortunate as heaven the water has risen. Great work DRock as usual. Lets see whats to be caught in that lake!

I used to go dive in Lake Mead. It really does have its own beauty.

Great video. I got a speed wobble around 65-75 mph with both DSports and Motoz DualVenture front tires. I now run a Motoz Rallz rear and Shinko 804 front and can comfortably cruise at 75 mph although it’s more comfortable around 70 mph. Keep have a good time! I used too go spend time in at Lake Powell all the time. It’s a shame too see how low those lakes have gotten. Thanks again for the trip!

love the klr...second oil change today...went synthetic.....much quieter now....smother shifting....great new fishing channel also. Your a busy boy.....My dad always said...if you enjoy your work, you'll never have a job

We did that ride from Saint George to Mead this time last year. It was perfect!! Thinking about Mesquite as a retirement area. How do you feel about that or would Saint George be better?

Depends, ST George has gotten quite expensive. Don't know about Mesquite.
